حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ أَيُّوبَ وَقُتَيْبَةُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ قَالَ ابْنُ أَيُّوبَ حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَعِيلُ وَهُوَ ابْنُ جَعْفَرٍ أَخْبَرَنِي شَرِيكٌ عَنْ عَطَاءِ بْنِ يَسَارٍ مَوْلَى مَيْمُونَةَ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ لَيْسَ الْمِسْكِينُ بِالَّذِي تَرُدُّهُ التَّمْرَةُ وَالتَّمْرَتَانِ وَلَا اللُّقْمَةُ وَاللُّقْمَتَانِ إِنَّمَا الْمِسْكِينُ الْمُتَعَفِّفُ اقْرَءُوا إِنْ شِئْتُمْ لَا يَسْأَلُونَ النَّاسَ إِلْحَافًا
اسماعیل نے جو ابن جعفر ( بن ابی کثیر ) ہیں ، کہا : مجھے شریک نے حضرت میمونہ رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہا کے آزاد کردہ غلام عطاء بن یسار سے خبردی ، انھوں نے حضرت ابو ہریرہ رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ سے روایت کی کہ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا : " ( اصل ) مسکین وہ نہیں جسے ایک دو کھجوریں یا ایک دو لقمے لوٹا دیتے ہیں ، اصل مسکین سوال سے بچنے والا ہے ، چاہو تو یہ آیت پڑھ لو : " وہ لوگوں سے چمٹ کر ( اصرار سے ) نہیں مانگتے ۔ "
Abu Huraira reported Allah's Messenger ( صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم ) as saying: Miskin is not he who is dismissed with one or two dates, and with one morsel or two morsels. (In fact) miskin is he who abstains (from begging). Read if you so desire (the verse): They beg not of men importunately) (ii. 273).
