و حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ وَأَبُو كُرَيْبٍ قَالَا حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو مُعَاوِيَةَ ح و حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو كُرَيْبٍ وَأَبُو سَعِيدٍ الْأَشَجُّ وَاللَّفْظُ لِأَبِي كُرَيْبٍ قَالَا حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ كِلَاهُمَا عَنْ الْأَعْمَشِ عَنْ حَبِيبِ بْنِ أَبِي ثَابِتٍ عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ جُبَيْرٍ عَنْ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ قَالَ جَمَعَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بَيْنَ الظُّهْرِ وَالْعَصْرِ وَالْمَغْرِبِ وَالْعِشَاءِ بِالْمَدِينَةِ فِي غَيْرِ خَوْفٍ وَلَا مَطَرٍ فِي حَدِيثِ وَكِيعٍ قَالَ قُلْتُ لِابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ لِمَ فَعَلَ ذَلِكَ قَالَ كَيْ لَا يُحْرِجَ أُمَّتَهُ وَفِي حَدِيثِ أَبِي مُعَاوِيَةَ قِيلَ لِابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ مَا أَرَادَ إِلَى ذَلِكَ قَالَ أَرَادَ أَنْ لَا يُحْرِجَ أُمَّتَهُ

  ابو معاویہ اور وکیع دونوں نے اعمش سے روایت کی ، انھوں نے حبیب بن ثابت سے انھوں نے سعید بن جبیر سے اور انھوں نے حضرت ابن عباس رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ سے روایت کی ، انھوں نے کہا : رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے ظہر ، عصر اور مغرب ، عشاء کو مدینہ میں کسی خوف اور بارش کے بغیر جمع کیا ۔ وکیع کی روایت میں ہے ( سعید نے ) کہا : میں نے ابن عباس رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ سے پوچھا : آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے ایسا کیوں کیا؟ انھوں نے کہا : تاکہ اپنی امت کو دشواری میں مبتلا نہ کریں اور ابو معاویہ کی حدیث میں ہے ابن عباس رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ سے پوچھا گیا : آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے کہا چاہتے ہوئے ایسا کیا؟انھوں نے کہا : آپ نے چاہا اپنی امت کو دشواری میں نہ ڈالیں ۔

Ibn 'Abbas reported that the Messenger of Allah ( ‌صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ‌ ) combined the noon prayer with the afternoon prayer and the sunset prayer with the 'Isha' prayer in Medina without being in a state of danger or rainfall. And in the hadith transmitted by Waki' (the words are): I said to Ibn 'Abbas: What prompted him to do that? He said: So that his (Prophet's) Ummah should not be put to (unnecessary) hardship. And in the hadith transmitted by Mu'awiya (the words are): It was said to Ibn 'Abbas: What did he intend thereby? He said he wanted that his Ummah should not be put to unnecessary hardship.

Hadith 1571

A'isha, the wife of the Messenger of Allah ( ‌صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ‌ ), said Allah prescribed the prayer as two rak'ahs, then it was completed (to four rak'ahs) at the place of residence, but was retained in the same position in journey as it was first made obligatory.

Hadith 1572

A'isha reported: The prayer was prescribed as consisting of two rak'ahs, the prayer in travelling remained the same, but the prayer at the place of residence was completed. (Zuhri said he asked 'Urwa why 'A'isha said prayer in the complete form during journey, and he replied that she interpreted the matter herself as 'Uthman did.)

Hadith 1573

Yahya b. Umayya said: I told 'Umar b. al-Khattab that Allah had said: You may shorten the prayer only if you fear that those who are unbelievers may afflict you (Qur'an, iv. 101), whereas the people are now safe. He replied: I wondered about it in the same way as you wonder about it, so I asked the Messenger of Allah ( ‌صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ‌ ) about it and he said: It is an act of charity which Allah has done to you, so accept His charity.
