حَدَّثَنِي عَمْرٌو النَّاقِدُ، وَزُهَيْرُ بْنُ حَرْبٍ، جَمِيعًا عَنِ ابْنِ عُيَيْنَةَ، قَالَ عَمْرٌو: حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ بْنُ عُيَيْنَةَ، حَدَّثَنَا أَيُّوبُ، قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ مُحَمَّدَ بْنَ سِيرِينَ، يَقُولُ: سَمِعْتُ أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ، يَقُولُ: صَلَّى بِنَا رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِحْدَى صَلَاتَيِ الْعَشِيِّ، إِمَّا الظُّهْرَ، وَإِمَّا الْعَصْرَ، فَسَلَّمَ فِي رَكْعَتَيْنِ، ثُمَّ أَتَى جِذْعًا فِي قِبْلَةِ الْمَسْجِدِ، فَاسْتَنَدَ إِلَيْهَا مُغْضَبًا، وَفِي الْقَوْمِ أَبُو بَكْرٍ وَعُمَرَ، فَهَابَا أَنْ يَتَكَلَّمَا، وَخَرَجَ سَرَعَانُ النَّاسِ، قُصِرَتِ الصَّلَاةُ، فَقَامَ ذُو الْيَدَيْنِ، فَقَالَ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ أَقُصِرَتِ الصَّلَاةُ أَمْ نَسِيتَ؟ فَنَظَرَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَمِينًا وَشِمَالًا، فَقَالَ: «مَا يَقُولُ ذُو الْيَدَيْنِ؟» قَالُوا: صَدَقَ، لَمْ تُصَلِّ إِلَّا رَكْعَتَيْنِ، «فَصَلَّى رَكْعَتَيْنِ وَسَلَّمَ، ثُمَّ كَبَّرَ، ثُمَّ سَجَدَ، ثُمَّ كَبَّرَ فَرَفَعَ، ثُمَّ كَبَّرَ وَسَجَدَ، ثُمَّ كَبَّرَ وَرَفَعَ»، قَالَ: وَأُخْبِرْتُ عَنْ عِمْرَانَ بْنِ حُصَيْنٍ أَنَّهُ قَالَ: وَسَلَّمَ.
سفیان بن عیینہ نے کہا : ہم سے ایوب نے حدیث بیان کی ، انھوں نے کہا : میں نے محمد بن سیرین سے سنا ، وہ کہہ رہے تھے : میں نےحضرت ابو ہریرہ رضی اللہ عنہ سے سنا ، وہ کہہ رہے تھے : ہمیں رسول اللہ ﷺ نے دوپہر کے بعد کی ایک نماز ظہر یا عصر پڑھائی اور دو رکعتوں کے بعد سلام پھیر دیا ، پھر قبلے کی سمت ( گڑے ہوئے ) کجھور کے ایک تنےکے پاس آئے اور غصے کی کیفیت میں اس سے ٹیک لگا لی ۔ لوگوں میں ابو بکر و عمر رضی اللہ عنہ موجود ( بھی ) تھے ، انھوں نے آپ کی ہیبت کی بنا پر گفتگو نہ کی جبکہ جلد باز لوگ ( نماز پڑھتے ہی ) نکل گئے ، اور کہنے لگے : نماز میں کمی ہو گئی ہے ۔ تو ذوالیدین ( نامی شخص ) کھڑا ہوا اور کہا : اے اللہ کے رسول ! کیا نماز مختصر کر دی گئی ہے یا آپ بھول گئے ہیں ؟ نبی اکرم ﷺ نے دائیں اور بائیں دیکھ کر پوچھا : ’’ ذوالیدین کیا کہہ رہا ہے ؟ ‘ ‘ لوگوں نے کہا : سچ کہہ رہا ہے ، آپ نے دو رکعتیں ہی پڑھی ہیں ۔ چنانچہ آپ نے دو رکعتیں ( مزید ) پڑھیں اور سلام پھیر دیا ، پھر اللہ اکبر کہا اور سجدہ کیا ، بھر اللہ اکبر کہا اور سر اٹھایا ، پھر اللہ اکبر کہا اور سجد ہ کیا ، پھر اللہ اکبر کہا اور سر اٹھایا ۔ ( محمد بن سیرین نے ) کہا : عمران بن حصین رضی اللہ عنہ کے حوالے سے مجھے بتایا گیا کہ انھوں نے کہا : اور سلام پھیرا ۔
Ibn Sirin reported Abu Huraira as saying: The Messenger of Allah ( صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم ) led us in one of the two evening prayers, Zuhr or `Asr, and gave salutations after two rak`ahs and going towards a piece of wood which was placed to the direction of the Qibla in the mosque, leaned on it looking as if he were angry. Abu Bakr and `Umar were among the people and they were too afraid to speak to him and the people came out in haste (saying): The prayer has been shortened. But among them was a man called Dhul-Yadain who said: Messenger of Allah, has the prayer been shortened or have you forgotten? The Apostle of Allah ( صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم ) looked to the right and left and said: What was Dhul-Yadain saying? They said: He is right. You (the Holy Prophet) offered but two rak`ahs. He offered two (more) rak`ahs and gave salutation, then said takbir and prostrated and lifted (his head) and then said takbir and prostrated, then said takbir and lifted (his head). He (the narrator) says: It has been reported to me by `Imran b. Husain that he said: He (then) gave salutation.

Hadith 1162
Ibrahim b. Yazid al-Tayml reported: I used to read the Qur'an with my father in the vestibule (before the door of the mosque). When I recited the ayat (verses) concerning prostration, he prostrated himself. I said to him: Father, do you prostrate yourself in the path? He said: I heard Abu Dharr saying: I asked the Messenger of Allah ( صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم ) about the mosque that was first set up on the earth. He said: Masjid Harim. I said: Then which next? He said: The Masjid al-Aqsa. I said: How long is the space of time between the two? He said: Forty years. He (then) further said: The earth is a mosque for you, so wherever you are at the time of prayer, pray there.

'Abdullah al-Ansari reported: The Prophet ( صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم ) said: I have been conferred upon five (things) which were not granted to anyone before me (and these are): Every apostle wassent particularly to his own people, whereas I have been sent to all the red and the black the spoils of war have been made lawful for me, and these were never made lawful to anyone before me, and the earth has been made sacred and pure and mosque for me, so whenever the time of prayer comes for any one of you he should pray whenever he is, and I have been supported by awe (by which the enemy is overwhelmed) from the distance (which one takes) one month to cover and I have been granted intercession.
