حَدَّثَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا اللَّيْثُ ، عَنْ يَزِيدَ بْنِ أَبِي حَبِيبٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي الْخَيْرِ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَمْرٍو ، عَنْ أَبِي بَكْرٍ الصِّدِّيقِ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ ، أَنَّهُ قَالَ لِرَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : عَلِّمْنِي دُعَاءً أَدْعُو بِهِ فِي صَلَاتِي ، قَالَ : قُلْ ، اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي ظَلَمْتُ نَفْسِي ظُلْمًا كَثِيرًا وَلَا يَغْفِرُ الذُّنُوبَ إِلَّا أَنْتَ ، فَاغْفِرْ لِي مَغْفِرَةً مِنْ عِنْدِكَ ، وَارْحَمْنِي إِنَّك أَنْتَ الْغَفُورُ الرَّحِيمُ .
ہم سے قتیبہ بن سعید نے بیان کیا، کہا کہ ہم سے لیث بن سعد نے یزید بن ابی حبیب سے بیان کیا، ان سے ابوالخیر مرثد بن عبداللہ نے ان سے عبداللہ بن عمرو رضی اللہ عنہما نے، ان سے ابوبکر صدیق رضی اللہ عنہ نے کہ انہوں نے رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم سے عرض کیا کہ آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم مجھے کوئی ایسی دعا سکھا دیجئیے جسے میں نماز میں پڑھا کروں۔ آپ نے فرمایا کہ یہ دعا پڑھا کرو «اللهم إني ظلمت نفسي ظلما كثيرا ولا يغفر الذنوب إلا أنت، فاغفر لي مغفرة من عندك، وارحمني إنك أنت الغفور الرحيم» اے اللہ! میں نے اپنی جان پر ( گناہ کر کے ) بہت زیادہ ظلم کیا پس گناہوں کو تیرے سوا کوئی دوسرا معاف کرنے والا نہیں۔ مجھے اپنے پاس سے بھرپور مغفرت عطا فرما اور مجھ پر رحم کر کہ مغفرت کرنے والا اور رحم کرنے والا بیشک وشبہ تو ہی ہے۔
Narrated Abu Bakr As-Siddiq: I asked Allah's Apostle to teach me an invocation so that I may invoke Allah with it in my prayer. He told me to say, Allahumma inni zalumtu nafsi zulman kathiran, Wala yaghfiru dh-dhunuba illa anta, fa ghfir li maghfiratan min `indika, wa r-hamni, innaka anta l-ghafuru r-rahim (O Allah! I have done great injustice to myself and none except You forgives sins, so bestow on me a forgiveness from You, and Have Mercy on me, You are the Forgiver, the Merciful).

Narrated Salim bin `Abdullah: My father said, Allah's Apostle used to raise both his hands up to the level of his shoulders when opening the prayer; and on saying the Takbir for bowing. And on raising his head from bowing he used to do the same and then say Sami`a l-lahu liman hamidah, Rabbana wa laka l-hamd. And he did not do that (i.e. raising his hands) in prostrations.

Narrated Nafi`: Whenever Ibn `Umar started the prayer with Takbir, he used to raise his hands: whenever he bowed, he used to raise his hands (before bowing) and also used to raise his hands on saying, Sami`a l-lahu liman hamidah , and he used to do the same on rising from the second rak`a (for the 3rd rak`a). Ibn `Umar said: The Prophet used to do the same.
