حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مَسْلَمَةَ ، عَنْ مَالِكٍ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ الْقَاسِمِ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ، أَنَّهُ أَخْبَرَهُ ، أَنَّهُ كَانَ يَرَى عَبْدَ اللَّهِ بْنَ عُمَرَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُمَا يَتَرَبَّعُ فِي الصَّلَاةِ إِذَا جَلَسَ فَفَعَلْتُهُ ، وَأَنَا يَوْمَئِذٍ حَدِيثُ السِّنِّ فَنَهَانِي عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ عُمَرَ وَقَالَ : إِنَّمَا سُنَّةُ الصَّلَاةِ أَنْ تَنْصِبَ رِجْلَكَ الْيُمْنَى وَتَثْنِيَ الْيُسْرَى ، فَقُلْتُ : إِنَّكَ تَفْعَلُ ذَلِكَ ، فَقَالَ : إِنَّ رِجْلَيَّ لَا تَحْمِلَانِي .
ہم سے عبداللہ بن مسلمہ نے بیان کیا، انہوں نے امام مالک رحمہ اللہ سے، انہوں نے عبدالرحمٰن بن قاسم کے واسطے سے بیان کیا، انہوں نے عبداللہ بن عبداللہ سے انہوں نے خبر دی کہ عبداللہ بن عمر رضی اللہ عنہما کو وہ ہمیشہ دیکھتے کہ آپ نماز میں چارزانو بیٹھتے ہیں میں ابھی نوعمر تھا میں نے بھی اسی طرح کرنا شروع کر دیا لیکن عبداللہ بن عمر رضی اللہ عنہما نے اس سے روکا اور فرمایا کہ نماز میں سنت یہ ہے کہ ( تشہد میں ) دایاں پاؤں کھڑا رکھے اور بایاں پھیلادے میں نے کہا کہ آپ تو اسی ( میری ) طرح کرتے ہیں آپ بولے کہ ( کمزوری کی وجہ سے ) میرے پاؤں میرا بوجھ نہیں اٹھا پاتے۔
Narrated `Abdullah bin `Abdullah: I saw `Abdullah bin `Umar crossing his legs while sitting in the prayer and I, a mere youngster in those days, did the same. Ibn `Umar forbade me to do so, and said, The proper way is to keep the right foot propped up and bend the left in the prayer. I said questioningly, But you are doing so (crossing the legs). He said, My feet cannot bear my weight.

Narrated Salim bin `Abdullah: My father said, Allah's Apostle used to raise both his hands up to the level of his shoulders when opening the prayer; and on saying the Takbir for bowing. And on raising his head from bowing he used to do the same and then say Sami`a l-lahu liman hamidah, Rabbana wa laka l-hamd. And he did not do that (i.e. raising his hands) in prostrations.

Narrated Nafi`: Whenever Ibn `Umar started the prayer with Takbir, he used to raise his hands: whenever he bowed, he used to raise his hands (before bowing) and also used to raise his hands on saying, Sami`a l-lahu liman hamidah , and he used to do the same on rising from the second rak`a (for the 3rd rak`a). Ibn `Umar said: The Prophet used to do the same.
