حَدَّثَنَا مُوسَى بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيلَ ، قَالَ : أَخْبَرَنَا هَمَّامٌ ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ ، عَنْ عِكْرِمَةَ ، قَالَ : صَلَّيْتُ خَلْفَ شَيْخٍ 0بِمَكَّةَ فَكَبَّرَ ثِنْتَيْنِ وَعِشْرِينَ تَكْبِيرَةً ، فَقُلْتُ لِابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ : إِنَّهُ أَحْمَقُ ، فَقَالَ : ثَكِلَتْكَ أُمُّكَ ، سُنَّةُ أَبِي الْقَاسِمِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، وَقَالَ مُوسَى حَدَّثَنَا أَبَانُ ، حَدَّثَنَا قَتَادَةُ ، حَدَّثَنَا عِكْرِمَةُ .
ہم سے موسیٰ بن اسماعیل نے بیان کیا، کہا کہ ہم سے ہمام بن یحییٰ نے قتادہ سے بیان کیا، وہ عکرمہ سے، کہا کہ میں نے مکہ میں ایک بوڑھے کے پیچھے ( ظہر کی ) نماز پڑھی۔ انہوں نے ( تمام نماز میں ) بائیس تکبیریں کہیں۔ اس پر میں نے ابن عباس رضی اللہ عنہما سے کہا کہ یہ بوڑھا بالکل بے عقل معلوم ہوتا ہے ابن عباس رضی اللہ عنہما نے فرمایا تمہاری ماں تمہیں روئے یہ تو ابوالقاسم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کی سنت ہے۔ اور موسیٰ بن اسماعیل نے یوں بھی بیان کیا کہ ہم سے ابان نے بیان کیا، کہ کہا ہم سے قتادہ نے، انہوں نے کہا کہ ہم سے عکرمہ نے یہ حدیث بیان کی۔
Narrated `Ikrima: I prayed behind a Sheikh at Mecca and he said twenty two Takbirs (during the prayer). I told Ibn `Abbas that he (i.e. that Sheikh) was foolish. Ibn `Abbas admonished me and said, This is the tradition of Abul-Qasim.

Narrated Salim bin `Abdullah: My father said, Allah's Apostle used to raise both his hands up to the level of his shoulders when opening the prayer; and on saying the Takbir for bowing. And on raising his head from bowing he used to do the same and then say Sami`a l-lahu liman hamidah, Rabbana wa laka l-hamd. And he did not do that (i.e. raising his hands) in prostrations.

Narrated Nafi`: Whenever Ibn `Umar started the prayer with Takbir, he used to raise his hands: whenever he bowed, he used to raise his hands (before bowing) and also used to raise his hands on saying, Sami`a l-lahu liman hamidah , and he used to do the same on rising from the second rak`a (for the 3rd rak`a). Ibn `Umar said: The Prophet used to do the same.
