حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو النُّعْمَانِ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عَوَانَةَ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الْمَلِكِ بْنِ عُمَيْرٍ ، عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ سَمُرَةَ ، قَالَ : قَالَ سَعْدٌ : كُنْتُ أُصَلِّي بِهِمْ صَلَاةَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ صَلَاتَيِ الْعَشِيِّ لَا أَخْرِمُ عَنْهَا ، أَرْكُدُ فِي الْأُولَيَيْنِ وَأَحْذِفُ فِي الْأُخْرَيَيْنِ ، فَقَالَ عُمَرُ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ : ذَلِكَ الظَّنُّ بِكَ .
ہم سے ابوالنعمان محمد بن فضل نے بیان کیا، کہا کہ ہم سے ابوعوانہ وضاح یشکری نے عبدالملک بن عمیر سے بیان کیا، انہوں نے جابر بن سمرہ سے کہ سعد بن ابی وقاص رضی اللہ عنہ نے عمر رضی اللہ عنہ سے کہا میں ان ( کوفہ والوں ) کو نبی کریم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کی طرح نماز پڑھاتا تھا۔ ظہر اور عصر کی دونوں نمازیں، کسی قسم کا نقص ان میں نہیں چھوڑتا تھا۔ پہلی دو رکعتیں لمبی پڑھتا اور دوسری دو رکعتیں ہلکی۔ تو عمر رضی اللہ عنہ نے فرمایا کہ مجھ کو تم سے امید بھی یہی تھی۔
Narrated Jabir bin Samura: Sa`d said, I used to pray with them a prayer similar to that of Allah's Apostle (the prayer of Zuhr and `Asr) reducing nothing from them. I used to prolong the first two rak`at and shorten the last two rak`at. `Umar said to Sa`d This was what we thought about you.

Narrated Salim bin `Abdullah: My father said, Allah's Apostle used to raise both his hands up to the level of his shoulders when opening the prayer; and on saying the Takbir for bowing. And on raising his head from bowing he used to do the same and then say Sami`a l-lahu liman hamidah, Rabbana wa laka l-hamd. And he did not do that (i.e. raising his hands) in prostrations.

Ibn `Umar said: The Prophet used to do the same.
