حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنِي مَالِكُ بْنُ أَنَسٍ ، عَنْ رَبِيعَةَ بْنِ أَبِي عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ ، أَنَّهُ سَمِعَهُ ، يَقُولُ : كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ لَيْسَ بِالطَّوِيلِ الْبَائِنِ وَلَا بِالْقَصِيرِ ، وَلَيْسَ بِالْأَبْيَضِ الْأَمْهَقِ ، وَلَيْسَ بِالْآدَمِ ، وَلَيْسَ بِالْجَعْدِ الْقَطَطِ ، وَلَا بِالسَّبْطِ ، بَعَثَهُ اللَّهُ عَلَى رَأْسِ أَرْبَعِينَ سَنَةً ، فَأَقَامَ بِمَكَّةَ عَشْرَ سِنِينَ وَبِالْمَدِينَةِ عَشْرَ سِنِينَ ، وَتَوَفَّاهُ اللَّهُ عَلَى رَأْسِ سِتِّينَ سَنَةً ، وَلَيْسَ فِي رَأْسِهِ وَلِحْيَتِهِ عِشْرُونَ شَعَرَةً بَيْضَاءَ .
ہم سے اسماعیل بن ابی اویس نے بیان کیا، کہا کہ مجھ سے امام مالک بن انس نے بیان کیا، ان سے ربیعہ بن عبدالرحمٰن نے اور ان سے انس بن مالک رضی اللہ عنہ نے، انہوں نے ان سے سنا کہ وہ بیان کر رہے تھے کہ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم بہت لمبے نہیں تھے اور نہ آپ چھوٹے قد کے ہی تھے ( بلکہ آپ کا بیچ والا قد تھا ) نہ آپ بالکل سفید بھورے تھے اور نہ گندم گوں ہی تھے، آپ کے بال گھونگھریالے الجھے ہوئے نہیں تھے اور نہ بالکل سیدھے لٹکے ہوئے تھے۔ اللہ تعالیٰ نے آپ کو چالیس سال کی عمر میں رسول بنایا دس سال آپ نے ( نبوت کے بعد ) مکہ مکرمہ میں قیام کیا اور دس سال مدینہ منورہ میں اور تقریباً ساٹھ سال کی عمر میں اللہ تعالیٰ نے آپ کو وفات دی۔ وفات کے وقت آپ کے سر اور داڑھی میں بیس بال بھی سفید نہیں تھے۔
Narrated Anas bin Malik: The Prophet was neither conspicuously tall, nor short; neither, very white, nor tawny. His hair was neither much curled, nor very straight. Allah sent him (as an Apostle) at the age of forty (and after that) he stayed for ten years in Mecca, and for ten more years in Medina. Allah took him unto Him at the age of sixty, and he scarcely had ten white hairs on his head and in his beard.

Narrated Abu Bakra: The solar eclipse occurred while we were sitting with the Prophet He got up dragging his garment (on the ground) hurriedly till he reached the mosque The people turned (to the mosque) and he offered a two-rak`at prayer whereupon the eclipse was over and he traced us and said, The sun and the moon are two signs among the signs of Allah, so if you see a thing like this (eclipse) then offer the prayer and invoke Allah till He remove that state.

Narrated Abu Juhaifa: I saw Bilal bringing a short spear (or stick) and fixing it in the ground, and then he proclaimed the Iqama of the prayer, and I saw Allah's Apostle coming out, wearing a cloak with its sleeves rolled up. He then offered a two-rak`at prayer while facing the stick, and I saw the people and animals passing in front of him beyond the stick.
