حَدَّثَنَا آدَمُ بْنُ أَبِي إِيَاسٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ ، قَالَ : لَمَّا أَرَادَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَنْ يَكْتُبَ إِلَى الرُّومِ قِيلَ لَهُ : إِنَّهُمْ لَنْ يَقْرَءُوا كِتَابَكَ إِذَا لَمْ يَكُنْ مَخْتُومًا ، فَاتَّخَذَ خَاتَمًا مِنْ فِضَّةٍ وَنَقْشُهُ مُحَمَّدٌ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ فَكَأَنَّمَا أَنْظُرُ إِلَى بَيَاضِهِ فِي يَدِهِ .
ہم سے آدم بن ابی ایاس نے بیان کیا، کہا ہم سے شعبہ نے بیان کیا، ان سے قتادہ نے اور ان سے انس بن مالک رضی اللہ عنہ نے بیان کیا کہ جب نبی کریم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے روم ( کے بادشاہ کو ) خط لکھانا چاہا تو آپ سے کہا گیا کہ اگر آپ کے خط پر مہر نہ ہوئی تو وہ خط نہیں پڑھتے۔ چنانچہ آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے چاندی کی ایک انگوٹھی بنوائی اس پر لفظ «محمد رسول الله» کندہ کرایا۔ جیسے نبی کریم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کے ہاتھ میں اس کی سفیدی اب بھی میں دیکھ رہا ہوں۔
Narrated Anas bin Malik: When the Prophet intended to write to the Byzantines, it was said to him, Those people do not read your letter unless it is stamped. So the Prophet took a silver ring and got 'Muhammad, the Apostle of Allah' engraved on it .... as if I am now looking at its glitter in his hand.

Narrated Abu Juhaifa: I saw Bilal bringing a short spear (or stick) and fixing it in the ground, and then he proclaimed the Iqama of the prayer, and I saw Allah's Apostle coming out, wearing a cloak with its sleeves rolled up. He then offered a two-rak`at prayer while facing the stick, and I saw the people and animals passing in front of him beyond the stick.
