حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يُوسُفَ ، حَدَّثَنَا مَالِكُ بْنُ مِغْوَلٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا طَلْحَةُ ، قَالَ : سَأَلْتُ عَبْدَ اللَّهِ بْنَ أَبِي أَوْفَى ، أَوْصَى النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ؟ فَقَالَ : لَا ، فَقُلْتُ : كَيْفَ كُتِبَ عَلَى النَّاسِ الْوَصِيَّةُ أُمِرُوا بِهَا وَلَمْ يُوصِ ؟ قَالَ : أَوْصَى بِكِتَابِ اللَّهِ .
ہم سے محمد بن یوسف فریابی نے بیان کیا، کہا ہم سے مالک بن مغول نے، کہا ہم سے طلحہ بن مصرف نے بیان کیا، کہ میں نے عبداللہ بن ابی اوفی رضی اللہ عنہ سے سوال کیا: کیا نبی کریم نے کوئی وصیت فرمائی تھی؟ انہوں نے کہا کہ نہیں۔ میں نے عرض کیا: پھر لوگوں پر وصیت کیسے فرض کی گئی کہ مسلمانوں کو تو وصیت کا حکم ہے اور خود نبی کریم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے کوئی وصیت نہیں فرمائی۔ انہوں نے کہا کہ نبی کریم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے کتاب اللہ کو مضبوطی سے تھامے رہنے کی وصیت فرمائی تھی۔
Narrated Talha: I asked `Abdullah bin Abi `Aufa, Did the Prophet make a will (to appoint his successor or bequeath wealth)? He replied, No. I said, How is it prescribed then for the people to make wills, and they are ordered to do so while the Prophet did not make any will? He said, He made a will wherein he recommended Allah's Book.

Narrated Abu `Uthman: I was informed that Gabriel came to the Prophet while Um Salama was with him. Gabriel started talking (to the Prophet). Then the Prophet asked Um Salama, Who is this?
