حَدَّثَنَا مَالِكُ بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيلَ ، حَدَّثَنَا إِسْرَائِيلُ ، عَنْ الْمُغِيرَةِ ، عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ ، عَنْ عَلْقَمَةَ ، قَالَ : قَدِمْتُ الشَّأْمَ فَصَلَّيْتُ رَكْعَتَيْنِ ، ثُمّ قُلْتُ : اللَّهُمَّ يَسِّرْ لِي جَلِيسًا صَالِحًا فَأَتَيْتُ قَوْمًا فَجَلَسْتُ إِلَيْهِمْ , فَإِذَا شَيْخٌ قَدْ جَاءَ حَتَّى جَلَسَ إِلَى جَنْبِي ، قُلْتُ : مَنْ هَذَا ؟ قَالُوا : أَبُو الدَّرْدَاءِ ، فَقُلْتُ : إِنِّي دَعَوْتُ اللَّهَ أَنْ يُيَسِّرَ لِي جَلِيسًا صالحًا ، قَالَ : مِمَّنْ أَنْتَ ، قُلْتُ : مِنْ أَهْلِ الْكُوفَةِ ، قَالَ : أَوَلَيْسَ عِنْدَكُمْ ابْنُ أُمِّ عَبْدٍ صَاحِبُ النَّعْلَيْنِ , وَالْوِسَادِ وَالْمِطْهَرَةِ , وَفِيكُمُ الَّذِي أَجَارَهُ اللَّهُ مِنَ الشَّيْطَانِ عَلَى لِسَانِ نَبِيِّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ , أَوَلَيْسَ فِيكُمْ صَاحِبُ سِرِّ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ الَّذِي لَا يَعْلَمُ أَحَدٌ غَيْرُهُ ، ثُمَّ قَالَ :كَيْفَ يَقْرَأُ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ وَاللَّيْلِ إِذَا يَغْشَى ، فَقَرَأْتُ عَلَيْهِ : وَاللَّيْلِ إِذَا يَغْشَى { 1 } وَالنَّهَارِ إِذَا تَجَلَّى { 2 } سورة الليل آية 1-2 , 0 وَالذَّكَرِ وَالْأُنْثَى 0 , قَالَ : وَاللَّهِ لَقَدْ أَقْرَأَنِيهَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مِنْ فِيهِ إِلَى فِيَّ .
ہم سے مالک بن اسماعیل نے بیان کیا، کہا ہم سے اسرائیل نے بیان کیا، ان سے مغیرہ نے، ان سے ابراہیم نے، ان سے علقمہ نے بیان کیا کہ میں جب شام آیا تو میں نے دو رکعت نماز پڑھ کر یہ دعا کی کہ اے اللہ! مجھے کوئی نیک ساتھی عطا فرما۔ پھر میں ایک قوم کے پاس آیا اور ان کی مجلس میں بیٹھ گیا، تھوڑی ہی دیر بعد ایک بزرگ آئے اور میرے پاس بیٹھ گئے۔ میں نے پوچھا یہ کون بزرگ ہیں؟ لوگوں نے بتایا کہ یہ ابودرداء رضی اللہ عنہ ہیں۔ اس پر میں نے عرض کیا کہ میں نے اللہ تعالیٰ سے دعا کی تھی کہ کوئی نیک ساتھی مجھے عطا فرما، تو اللہ تعالیٰ نے آپ کو مجھے عنایت فرمایا۔ انہوں نے دریافت کیا، تمہارا وطن کہاں ہے؟ میں نے عرض کیا کوفہ ہے۔ انہوں نے کہا کیا تمہارے یہاں «ابن أم عبد صاحب النعلين والوساد والمطهرة» ( یعنی عبداللہ بن مسعود رضی اللہ عنہ ) نہیں ہیں؟ کیا تمہارے یہاں وہ نہیں ہیں جنہیں اللہ تعالیٰ اپنے نبی کریم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کی زبانی شیطان سے پناہ دے چکا ہے کہ وہ انہیں کبھی غلط راستے پر نہیں لے جا سکتا۔ ( مراد عمار رضی اللہ عنہ سے تھی ) کیا تم میں وہ نہیں ہیں جو رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کے بتائے ہوئے بہت سے بھیدوں کے حامل ہیں جنہیں ان کے سوا اور کوئی نہیں جانتا۔ ( یعنی حذیفہ رضی اللہ عنہ ) اس کے بعد انہوں نے دریافت فرمایا: عبداللہ رضی اللہ عنہ آیت «والليل إذا يغشى» کی تلاوت کس طرح کرتے ہیں؟ میں نے انہیں پڑھ کر سنائی کہ «والليل إذا يغشى * والنهار إذا تجلى * والذكر والأنثى» اس پر انہوں نے کہا کہ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے خود اپنی زبان مبارک سے مجھے بھی اسی طرح یاد کرایا تھا۔
Narrated 'Alqama: I went to Sham and offered a two-rak`at prayer and then said, O Allah! Bless me with a good pious companion. So I went to some people and sat with them. An old man came and sat by my side. I asked, Who is he? They replied, (He is) Abu-Ad-Darda.' I said (to him), I prayed to Allah to bless me with a pious companion and He sent you to me. He asked me, From where are you? I replied, From the people of Al-Kufa. He said, Isn't there amongst you Ibn Um `Abd, the one who used to carry the shoes, the cushion(or pillow) and the water for ablution? Is there amongst you the one whom Allah gave Refuge from Satan through the request of His Prophet. Is there amongst you the one who keeps the secrets of the Prophet which nobody knows except him? Abu Darda further asked, How does `Abdullah (bin Mas`ud) recite the Sura starting with, 'By the Night as it conceals (the light). (92.1) Then I recited before him: 'By the Night as it envelops: And by the Day as it appears in brightness; And by male and female.' (91.1-3) On this Abu Ad-Darda' said, By Allah, the Prophet made me recite the Sura in this way while I was listening to him (reciting it).

Narrated Abu Sa`id Al-Khudri: Allah's Apostle said, A time will come upon the people, when a group of people will wage a holy war and it will be said, 'Is there amongst you anyone who has accompanied Allah's Apostle?' They will say, 'Yes.' And so victory will be bestowed on them. Then a time will come upon the people when a group of people will wage a holy war, and it will be said, Is there amongst you anynone who has accompanied the companions of Allah's Apostle?' They will say, 'Yes.' And so victory will be bestowed on them. Then a time will come upon the people when a group of people will wage a holy war, and it will be said, Is there amongst you anyone who has been in the company of the companions of the companions of Allah's Apostle ?' They will say, 'Yes.' And victory will be bestowed on them.

Narrated `Imran bin Husain: Allah's Apostle said, 'The best of my followers are those living in my generation (i.e. my contemporaries). and then those who will follow the latter `Imran added, I do not remember whether he mentioned two or three generations after his generation, then the Prophet added, 'There will come after you, people who will bear witness without being asked to do so, and will be treacherous and untrustworthy, and they will vow and never fulfill their vows, and fatness will appear among them.

Narrated Al-Bara: Abu Bakr bought a (camel) saddle from `Azib for thirteen Dirhams. Abu Bakr said to `Azib, Tell Al- Bara' to carry the saddle for me. `Azib said, No, unless you relate to me what happened to you and Allah 's Apostle when you left Mecca while the pagans were in search of you. Abu Bakr said, We left Mecca and we travel led continuously for that night and the following day till it was midday. I looked (around) searching for shade to take as shelter, and suddenly I came across a rock, and found a little shade there. So I cleaned the place and spread a bed for the Prophet in the shade and said to him, 'Lie down, O Allah's Apostle.' So the Prophet lay down and I went out, looking around to see if there was any person pursuing us. Suddenly I saw a shepherd driving his sheep towards the rock, seeking what we had already sought from it. I asked him, 'To whom do you belong, O boy?' He said, 'I belong to a man from Quraish.' He named the man and I recognized him. I asked him, 'Is there any milk with your sheep?' He said, 'Yes.' I said, 'Will you then milk (some) for us?' He said, 'Yes.' Then I asked him to tie the legs of one of the sheep and clean its udder, and then ordered him to clean his hands from dust. Then the shepherd cleaned his hands by striking his hands against one another. After doing so, he milked a small amount of milk. I used to keep for Allah's Apostle a leather water-container, the mouth of which was covered with a piece of cloth. I poured water on the milk container till its lower part was cold. Then I took the milk to the Prophet whom I found awake. I said to him, 'Drink, O Allah's Apostle.' So he drank till I became pleased. Then I said, 'It is time for us to move, O Allahs Apostle!' He said, 'Yes.' So we set out while the people (i.e. Quraish pagans) were searching for us, but none found us except Suraiqa bin Malik bin Jushum who was riding his horse. I said, 'These are our pursuers who have found us. O Allah's Apostle!' He said, 'Do not grieve, for Allah is with us.
