حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو نُعَيْمٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ ، عَنْ ابْنِ جُرَيْجٍ ، عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ دِينَارٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي مَعْبَدٍ ، عَنْ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُمَا ، قَالَ : جَاءَ رَجُلٌ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقَالَ : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، إِنِّي كُتِبْتُ فِي غَزْوَةِ كَذَا وَكَذَا وَامْرَأَتِي حَاجَّةٌ ، قَالَ : ارْجِعْ فَحُجَّ مَعَ امْرَأَتِكَ .
ہم سے ابونعیم نے بیان کیا ‘ کہا ہم سے سفیان نے بیان کیا ‘ ان سے ابن جریج نے ‘ ان سے عمرو بن دینار نے ‘ ان سے ابومعبد نے اور ان سے عبداللہ بن عباس رضی اللہ عنہما نے بیان کیا کہ ایک شخص نبی کریم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کی خدمت میں حاضر ہوا اور عرض کیا یا رسول اللہ! میرا نام فلاں جہاد میں جانے کے لیے لکھا گیا ہے۔ ادھر میری بیوی حج کرنے جا رہی ہے۔ آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا کہ پھر جا اور اپنی بیوی کے ساتھ حج کر آ۔
Narrated Ibn `Abbas: A man came to the Prophet and said, O Allah's Apostle! I have enlisted in the army for such-andsuch Ghazwa, and my wife is leaving for Hajj. Allah's Apostle said, Go back and perform Hajj with your wife.

Narrated `Abdullah bin Masud: I asked Allah's Apostle, O Allah's Apostle! What is the best deed? He replied, To offer the prayers at their early stated fixed times. I asked, What is next in goodness? He replied, To be good and dutiful to your parents. I further asked, what is next in goodness? He replied, To participate in Jihad in Allah's Cause. I did not ask Allah's Apostle anymore and if I had asked him more, he would have told me more.

Narrated Abu Huraira: A man came to Allah's Apostle and said, Instruct me as to such a deed as equals Jihad (in reward). He replied, I do not find such a deed. Then he added, Can you, while the Muslim fighter is in the battle-field, enter your mosque to perform prayers without cease and fast and never break your fast? The man said, But who can do that? Abu- Huraira added, The Mujahid (i.e. Muslim fighter) is rewarded even for the footsteps of his horse while it wanders bout (for grazing) tied in a long rope.

Allah's Apostle replied A believer who strives his utmost in Allah's Cause with his life and property. They asked, Who is next? He replied, A believer who stays in one of the mountain paths worshipping Allah and leaving the people secure from his mischief.
