حَدَّثَنَا مُوسَى بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيلَ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عَوَانَةَ ، عَنْ حُصَيْنٍ ، عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ مَيْمُونٍ ، عَنْ عُمَرَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ ، قَالَ : وَأُوصِيهِ بِذِمَّةِ اللَّهِ وَذِمَّةِ رَسُولِهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَنْ يُوفَى لَهُمْ بِعَهْدِهِمْ ، وَأَنْ يُقَاتَلَ مِنْ وَرَائِهِمْ وَلَا يُكَلَّفُوا إِلَّا طَاقَتَهُمْ .

ہم سے موسیٰ بن اسماعیل نے بیان کیا ‘ کہا ہم سے ابوعوانہ نے بیان کیا ‘ انہیں حصین بن عبدالرحمٰن نے ‘ ان سے عمرو بن میمون نے کہ   عمر رضی اللہ عنہ نے ( وفات سے تھوڑی دیر پہلے ) فرمایا کہ میں اپنے بعد آنے والے خلیفہ کو اس کی وصیت کرتا ہوں کہ اللہ تعالیٰ اور اس کے رسول صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کا ( ذمیوں سے ) جو عہد ہے اس کو وہ پورا کرے اور یہ کہ ان کی حمایت میں ان کے دشمنوں سے جنگ کرے اور ان کی طاقت سے زیادہ کوئی بوجھ ان پر نہ ڈالا جائے۔

Narrated `Amr bin Maimun: `Umar (after he was stabbed), instructed (his would-be-successor) saying, I urge him (i.e. the new Caliph) to take care of those non-Muslims who are under the protection of Allah and His Apostle in that he should observe the convention agreed upon with them, and fight on their behalf (to secure their safety) and he should not over-tax them beyond their capability.

Hadith 2782

Narrated `Abdullah bin Masud: I asked Allah's Apostle, O Allah's Apostle! What is the best deed? He replied, To offer the prayers at their early stated fixed times. I asked, What is next in goodness? He replied, To be good and dutiful to your parents. I further asked, what is next in goodness? He replied, To participate in Jihad in Allah's Cause. I did not ask Allah's Apostle anymore and if I had asked him more, he would have told me more.

Narrated Ibn `Abbas: Allah's Apostle said, There is no Hijra (i.e. migration) (from Mecca to Medina) after the Conquest (of Mecca), but Jihad and good intention remain; and if you are called (by the Muslim ruler) for fighting, go forth immediately.

Narrated `Aisha: (That she said), O Allah's Apostle! We consider Jihad as the best deed. Should we not fight in Allah's Cause? He said, The best Jihad (for women) is Hajj-Mabrur (i.e. Hajj which is done according to the Prophet's tradition and is accepted by Allah).

Hadith 2785

Narrated Abu Huraira: A man came to Allah's Apostle and said, Instruct me as to such a deed as equals Jihad (in reward). He replied, I do not find such a deed. Then he added, Can you, while the Muslim fighter is in the battle-field, enter your mosque to perform prayers without cease and fast and never break your fast? The man said, But who can do that? Abu- Huraira added, The Mujahid (i.e. Muslim fighter) is rewarded even for the footsteps of his horse while it wanders bout (for grazing) tied in a long rope.

Narrated Abu Sa`id Al-Khudri: Somebody asked, O Allah's Apostle! Who is the best among the people? Allah's Apostle replied A believer who strives his utmost in Allah's Cause with his life and property. They asked, Who is next? He replied, A believer who stays in one of the mountain paths worshipping Allah and leaving the people secure from his mischief.
