حَدَّثَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ ، عَنْ عَمْرٍو ، عَنْ أَبِي مَعْبَدٍ ، عَنْ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُمَا ، أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، يَقُولُ : لَا يَخْلُوَنَّ رَجُلٌ بِامْرَأَةٍ ، وَلَا تُسَافِرَنَّ امْرَأَةٌ إِلَّا وَمَعَهَا مَحْرَمٌ ، فَقَامَ : رَجُلٌ ، فَقَالَ : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ اكْتُتِبْتُ فِي غَزْوَةِ كَذَا وَكَذَا ، وَخَرَجَتِ امْرَأَتِي حَاجَّةً ، قَالَ : اذْهَبْ فَحُجَّ مَعَ امْرَأَتِكَ .
ہم سے قتیبہ بن سعید نے بیان کیا ‘ کہا ہم سے سفیان بن عیینہ نے بیان کیا ‘ ان سے عمرو بن دینار نے ‘ ان سے ابومعبد نے اور ان سے ابن عباس رضی اللہ عنہما نے کہ انہوں نے نبی کریم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم سے سنا ‘ آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا کہ کوئی مرد کسی ( غیر محرم ) عورت کے ساتھ تنہائی میں نہ بیٹھے اور کوئی عورت اس وقت تک سفر نہ کرے جب تک اس کے ساتھ کوئی اس کا محرم نہ ہو۔ اتنے میں ایک صحابی کھڑے ہوئے اور عرض کیا ‘ یا رسول اللہ! میں نے فلاں جہاد میں اپنا نام لکھوا دیا ہے اور ادھر میری بیوی حج کے لیے جا رہی ہیں۔ آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا کہ پھر تو بھی جا اور اپنی بیوی کے ساتھ حج کر۔
Narrated Ibn `Abbas: That he heard the Prophet saying, It is not permissible for a man to be alone with a woman, and no lady should travel except with a Muhram (i.e. her husband or a person whom she cannot marry in any case for ever; e.g. her father, brother, etc.). Then a man got up and said, O Allah's Apostle! I have enlisted in the army for such-and-such Ghazwa and my wife is proceeding for Hajj. Allah's Apostle said, Go, and perform the Hajj with your wife.

Narrated `Abdullah bin Masud: I asked Allah's Apostle, O Allah's Apostle! What is the best deed? He replied, To offer the prayers at their early stated fixed times. I asked, What is next in goodness? He replied, To be good and dutiful to your parents. I further asked, what is next in goodness? He replied, To participate in Jihad in Allah's Cause. I did not ask Allah's Apostle anymore and if I had asked him more, he would have told me more.

Narrated Ibn `Abbas: Allah's Apostle said, There is no Hijra (i.e. migration) (from Mecca to Medina) after the Conquest (of Mecca), but Jihad and good intention remain; and if you are called (by the Muslim ruler) for fighting, go forth immediately.

Narrated `Aisha: (That she said), O Allah's Apostle! We consider Jihad as the best deed. Should we not fight in Allah's Cause? He said, The best Jihad (for women) is Hajj-Mabrur (i.e. Hajj which is done according to the Prophet's tradition and is accepted by Allah).

Narrated Abu Huraira: A man came to Allah's Apostle and said, Instruct me as to such a deed as equals Jihad (in reward). He replied, I do not find such a deed. Then he added, Can you, while the Muslim fighter is in the battle-field, enter your mosque to perform prayers without cease and fast and never break your fast? The man said, But who can do that? Abu- Huraira added, The Mujahid (i.e. Muslim fighter) is rewarded even for the footsteps of his horse while it wanders bout (for grazing) tied in a long rope.

Narrated Abu Sa`id Al-Khudri: Somebody asked, O Allah's Apostle! Who is the best among the people? Allah's Apostle replied A believer who strives his utmost in Allah's Cause with his life and property. They asked, Who is next? He replied, A believer who stays in one of the mountain paths worshipping Allah and leaving the people secure from his mischief.
