حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا مُعَاوِيَةُ بْنُ عَمْرٍو ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو إِسْحَاقَ ، عَنْ مُوسَى بْنِ عُقْبَةَ ، عَنْ سَالِمٍ أَبِي النَّضْرِ مَوْلَى عُمَرَ بْنِ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ وَكَانَ كَاتِبًا لَهُ ، قَالَ : كَتَبَ إِلَيْهِ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ أَبِي أَوْفَى رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُمَا فَقَرَأْتُهُ إِنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي بَعْضِ أَيَّامِهِ الَّتِي لَقِيَ فِيهَا انْتَظَرَ حَتَّى مَالَتِ الشَّمْسُ .
ہم سے عبداللہ بن محمد نے بیان کیا، انہوں نے کہا ہم سے معاویہ بن عمرو نے بیان کیا، انہوں نے کہا کہ ہم سے ابواسحاق فزاری نے بیان کیا، ان سے موسیٰ بن عقبہ نے بیان کیا، ان سے عمر بن عبیداللہ کے غلام سالم ابی النضر نے، (سالم ان کے منشی تھے) بیان کیا کہ عبداللہ بن ابی اوفی رضی اللہ عنہما نے انہیں خط لکھا اور میں نے اسے پڑھا کہ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم اپنے بعض دنوں میں جن میں آپ جنگ کرتے تھے آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم انتظار کرتے یہاں تک کہ سورج ڈھل جاتا ( پھر آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم لڑائی شروع کرتے ) ۔
Narrated Salim Abu An-Nadr: The freed slave of `Umar bin 'Ubaidullah who was `Umar's clerk: `Abdullah bin Abi `Aufa wrote him (i.e. `Umar) a letter that contained the following:-- Once Allah's Apostle (during a holy battle), waited till the sun had declined.

Hadith 2782
Narrated `Abdullah bin Masud: I asked Allah's Apostle, O Allah's Apostle! What is the best deed? He replied, To offer the prayers at their early stated fixed times. I asked, What is next in goodness? He replied, To be good and dutiful to your parents. I further asked, what is next in goodness? He replied, To participate in Jihad in Allah's Cause. I did not ask Allah's Apostle anymore and if I had asked him more, he would have told me more.

Narrated Ibn `Abbas: Allah's Apostle said, There is no Hijra (i.e. migration) (from Mecca to Medina) after the Conquest (of Mecca), but Jihad and good intention remain; and if you are called (by the Muslim ruler) for fighting, go forth immediately.

Narrated Abu Huraira: A man came to Allah's Apostle and said, Instruct me as to such a deed as equals Jihad (in reward). He replied, I do not find such a deed. Then he added, Can you, while the Muslim fighter is in the battle-field, enter your mosque to perform prayers without cease and fast and never break your fast? The man said, But who can do that? Abu- Huraira added, The Mujahid (i.e. Muslim fighter) is rewarded even for the footsteps of his horse while it wanders bout (for grazing) tied in a long rope.

Narrated Abu Sa`id Al-Khudri: Somebody asked, O Allah's Apostle! Who is the best among the people? Allah's Apostle replied A believer who strives his utmost in Allah's Cause with his life and property. They asked, Who is next? He replied, A believer who stays in one of the mountain paths worshipping Allah and leaving the people secure from his mischief.
