حَدَّثَنَا الْمَكِّيُّ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ ، حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ بْنُ أَبِي عُبَيْدٍ ، عَنْ سَلَمَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ ، قَالَ : بَايَعْتُ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ثُمَّ عَدَلْتُ إِلَى ظِلِّ الشَّجَرَةِ فَلَمَّا خَفَّ النَّاسُ ، قَالَ : يَا ابْنَ الْأَكْوَعِ أَلَا تُبَايِعُ ، قَالَ : قُلْتُ : قَدْ بَايَعْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، قَالَ : وَأَيْضًا فَبَايَعْتُهُ الثَّانِيَةَ ، فَقُلْتُ لَهُ : يَا أَبَا مُسْلِمٍ عَلَى أَيِّ شَيْءٍ كُنْتُمْ تُبَايِعُونَ يَوْمَئِذٍ ، قَالَ : عَلَى الْمَوْتِ .

ہم سے مکی بن ابراہیم نے بیان کیا، کہا ہم سے یزید بن ابی عبید نے بیان کیا، اور ان سے سلمہ بن الاکوع نے بیان کیا   ( حدیبیہ کے موقع پر ) میں نے رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم سے بیعت کی۔ پھر ایک درخت کے سائے میں آ کر کھڑا ہو گیا۔ جب لوگوں کا ہجوم کم ہوا تو نبی کریم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے دریافت کیا، ابن الاکوع کیا بیعت نہیں کرو گے؟ انہوں نے کہا کہ میں نے عرض کیا، یا رسول اللہ! میں تو بیعت کر چکا ہوں۔ آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا، دوبارہ اور بھی! چنانچہ میں نے دوبارہ بیعت کی ( یزید بن ابی عبیداللہ کہتے ہیں کہ ) میں نے سلمہ بن الاکوع رضی اللہ عنہ سے پوچھا، ابومسلم اس دن آپ حضرات نے کس بات پر بیعت کی تھی؟ کہا کہ موت پر۔

Narrated Yazid bin Ubaid: Salama said, I gave the Pledge of allegiance (Al-Ridwan) to Allah's Apostle and then I moved to the shade of a tree. When the number of people around the Prophet diminished, he said, 'O Ibn Al-Akwa` ! Will you not give to me the pledge of Allegiance?' I replied, 'O Allah's Apostle! I have already given to you the pledge of Allegiance.' He said, 'Do it again.' So I gave the pledge of allegiance for the second time. I asked 'O Abu Muslim! For what did you give he pledge of Allegiance on that day? He replied, We gave the pledge of Allegiance for death.

Hadith 2782

Narrated `Abdullah bin Masud: I asked Allah's Apostle, O Allah's Apostle! What is the best deed? He replied, To offer the prayers at their early stated fixed times. I asked, What is next in goodness? He replied, To be good and dutiful to your parents. I further asked, what is next in goodness? He replied, To participate in Jihad in Allah's Cause. I did not ask Allah's Apostle anymore and if I had asked him more, he would have told me more.

Narrated Ibn `Abbas: Allah's Apostle said, There is no Hijra (i.e. migration) (from Mecca to Medina) after the Conquest (of Mecca), but Jihad and good intention remain; and if you are called (by the Muslim ruler) for fighting, go forth immediately.

Narrated `Aisha: (That she said), O Allah's Apostle! We consider Jihad as the best deed. Should we not fight in Allah's Cause? He said, The best Jihad (for women) is Hajj-Mabrur (i.e. Hajj which is done according to the Prophet's tradition and is accepted by Allah).

Hadith 2785

Narrated Abu Huraira: A man came to Allah's Apostle and said, Instruct me as to such a deed as equals Jihad (in reward). He replied, I do not find such a deed. Then he added, Can you, while the Muslim fighter is in the battle-field, enter your mosque to perform prayers without cease and fast and never break your fast? The man said, But who can do that? Abu- Huraira added, The Mujahid (i.e. Muslim fighter) is rewarded even for the footsteps of his horse while it wanders bout (for grazing) tied in a long rope.

Hadith 2786

Narrated Abu Sa`id Al-Khudri: Somebody asked, O Allah's Apostle! Who is the best among the people? Allah's Apostle replied A believer who strives his utmost in Allah's Cause with his life and property. They asked, Who is next? He replied, A believer who stays in one of the mountain paths worshipping Allah and leaving the people secure from his mischief.
