حَدَّثَنَا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ مُوسَى ، أَخْبَرَنَا هِشَامٌ ، عَنْ مَعْمَرٍ ، عَنْ الزُّهْرِيِّ ، عَنْ ابْنِ الْمُسَيَّبِ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ ، قَالَ : بَيْنَا الْحَبَشَةُ يَلْعَبُونَ عِنْدَ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِحِرَابِهِمْ ، دَخَلَ عُمَرُ فَأَهْوَى إِلَى الْحَصَى فَحَصَبَهُمْ بِهَا ، فَقَالَ : دَعْهُمْ يَا عُمَرُ ، وَزَادَ عَلِيٌّ ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ ، أَخْبَرَنَا مَعْمَرٌ فِي الْمَسْجِدِ .
ہم سے ابراہیم بن موسیٰ نے بیان کیا، کہا ہم کو ہشام نے خبر دی، انہیں معمر نے، انہیں زہری نے، انہیں ابن المسیب نے اور ان سے ابوہریرہ رضی اللہ عنہ نے بیان کیا کہ حبشہ کے کچھ لوگ نبی کریم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کے سامنے حراب ( چھوٹے نیزے ) کا کھیل دکھلا رہے تھے کہ عمر رضی اللہ عنہ آ گئے اور کنکریاں اٹھا کر انہیں ان سے مارا۔ لیکن آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا ”عمر انہیں کھیل دکھانے دو۔“ علی بن مدینی نے یہ بیان زیادہ کیا کہ ہم سے عبدالرزاق نے بیان کیا، انہیں معمر نے خبر دی کہ مسجد میں ( یہ صحابہ رضی اللہ عنہم اپنے کھیل کا مظاہرہ کر رہے تھے ) ۔
Narrated Abu Huraira: While some Ethiopians were playing in the presence of the Prophet, `Umar came in, picked up a stone and hit them with it. On that the Prophet said, O `Umar! Allow them (to play). Ma`mar (the subnarrator) added that they were playing in the Mosque.

Narrated `Abdullah bin Masud: I asked Allah's Apostle, O Allah's Apostle! What is the best deed? He replied, To offer the prayers at their early stated fixed times. I asked, What is next in goodness? He replied, To be good and dutiful to your parents. I further asked, what is next in goodness? He replied, To participate in Jihad in Allah's Cause. I did not ask Allah's Apostle anymore and if I had asked him more, he would have told me more.

Narrated Ibn `Abbas: Allah's Apostle said, There is no Hijra (i.e. migration) (from Mecca to Medina) after the Conquest (of Mecca), but Jihad and good intention remain; and if you are called (by the Muslim ruler) for fighting, go forth immediately.

Narrated Abu Huraira: A man came to Allah's Apostle and said, Instruct me as to such a deed as equals Jihad (in reward). He replied, I do not find such a deed. Then he added, Can you, while the Muslim fighter is in the battle-field, enter your mosque to perform prayers without cease and fast and never break your fast? The man said, But who can do that? Abu- Huraira added, The Mujahid (i.e. Muslim fighter) is rewarded even for the footsteps of his horse while it wanders bout (for grazing) tied in a long rope.

Narrated Abu Sa`id Al-Khudri: Somebody asked, O Allah's Apostle! Who is the best among the people? Allah's Apostle replied A believer who strives his utmost in Allah's Cause with his life and property. They asked, Who is next? He replied, A believer who stays in one of the mountain paths worshipping Allah and leaving the people secure from his mischief.
