حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ يُونُسَ ، حَدَّثَنَا اللَّيْثُ ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ ، أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ سَابَقَ بَيْنَ الْخَيْلِ الَّتِي لَمْ تُضَمَّرْ وَكَانَ أَمَدُهَا مِنْ الثَّنِيَّةِ إِلَى مَسْجِدِ بَنِي زُرَيْقٍ ، وَأَنَّ عَبْدَ اللَّهِ بْنَ عُمَر كَانَ سَابَقَ بِهَا ، قَالَ : أَبُو عَبْد اللَّهِ أَمَدًا غَايَةً فَطَالَ عَلَيْهِمُ الْأَمَدُ .
ہم سے احمد بن یونس نے بیان کیا، کہا ہم سے لیث نے بیان کیا، ان سے نافع نے اور ان سے عبداللہ رضی اللہ عنہما نے کہ نبی کریم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے ان گھوڑوں کی دوڑ کرائی تھی جنہیں تیار نہیں کیا گیا تھا اور دوڑ کی حد ثنیۃ الوداع سے مسجد بنی زریق رکھی تھی اور عبداللہ بن عمر رضی اللہ عنہما نے بھی اس میں شرکت کی تھی۔ ابوعبداللہ نے کہا کہ «أمدا» ( حدیث میں ) حد اور انتہا کے معنی میں ہے۔ ( قرآن مجید میں ہے ) «فطال علیہم الامد» یعنی ”پھر ان پر لمبی مدت گزر گئی“ جو اسی معنی میں ہے۔
Narrated `Abdullah: The Prophet arranged for a horse race of the horses which had not been made lean; the area of the race was from Ath-Thaniya to the mosque of Bani Zuraiq. (The sub-narrator said, `Abdullah bin `Umar was amongst those who participated in that horse race. ).

Narrated `Abdullah bin Masud: I asked Allah's Apostle, O Allah's Apostle! What is the best deed? He replied, To offer the prayers at their early stated fixed times. I asked, What is next in goodness? He replied, To be good and dutiful to your parents. I further asked, what is next in goodness? He replied, To participate in Jihad in Allah's Cause. I did not ask Allah's Apostle anymore and if I had asked him more, he would have told me more.

Narrated Abu Huraira: A man came to Allah's Apostle and said, Instruct me as to such a deed as equals Jihad (in reward). He replied, I do not find such a deed. Then he added, Can you, while the Muslim fighter is in the battle-field, enter your mosque to perform prayers without cease and fast and never break your fast? The man said, But who can do that? Abu- Huraira added, The Mujahid (i.e. Muslim fighter) is rewarded even for the footsteps of his horse while it wanders bout (for grazing) tied in a long rope.

Allah's Apostle replied A believer who strives his utmost in Allah's Cause with his life and property. They asked, Who is next? He replied, A believer who stays in one of the mountain paths worshipping Allah and leaving the people secure from his mischief.
