THE BOOK OF WUDU (ABLUTION)

ہم سے محمد بن مقاتل نے بیان کیا، انہوں نے کہا ہم کو عبداللہ نے خبر دی، انہوں نے کہا ہمیں سفیان نے منصور کے واسطے سے خبر دی، انہوں نے سعد بن عبیدہ سے، وہ براء بن عازب رضی اللہ عنہما سے روایت کرتے ہیں، وہ کہتے ہیں کہ   رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا کہ جب تم اپنے بستر پر لیٹنے آؤ تو اس طرح وضو کرو جس طرح نماز کے لیے کرتے ہو۔ پھر داہنی کروٹ پر لیٹ کر یوں کہو «اللهم أسلمت وجهي إليك،‏‏‏‏ ‏‏‏‏ وفوضت أمري إليك،‏‏‏‏ ‏‏‏‏ وألجأت ظهري إليك،‏‏‏‏ ‏‏‏‏ رغبة ورهبة إليك،‏‏‏‏ ‏‏‏‏ لا ملجأ ولا منجا منك إلا إليك،‏‏‏‏ ‏‏‏‏ اللهم آمنت بكتابك الذي أنزلت،‏‏‏‏ ‏‏‏‏ وبنبيك الذي أرسلت‏» ”اے اللہ! میں نے اپنا چہرہ تیری طرف جھکا دیا۔ اپنا معاملہ تیرے ہی سپرد کر دیا۔ میں نے تیرے ثواب کی توقع اور تیرے عذاب کے ڈر سے تجھے ہی پشت پناہ بنا لیا۔ تیرے سوا کہیں پناہ اور نجات کی جگہ نہیں۔ اے اللہ! جو کتاب تو نے نازل کی میں اس پر ایمان لایا۔ جو نبی تو نے بھیجا میں اس پر ایمان لایا۔“ تو اگر اس حالت میں اسی رات مر گیا تو فطرت پر مرے گا اور اس دعا کو سب باتوں کے اخیر میں پڑھ۔ براء رضی اللہ عنہ کہتے ہیں کہ میں نے رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کے سامنے اس دعا کو دوبارہ پڑھا۔ جب میں «اللهم آمنت بكتابك الذي أنزلت» پر پہنچا تو میں نے «ورسولك‏» ( کا لفظ ) کہہ دیا۔ آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا نہیں ( یوں کہو ) «ونبيك الذي أرسلت» ۔

Narrated Al-Bara 'bin `Azib: The Prophet said to me, Whenever you go to bed perform ablution like that for the prayer, lie or your right side and say, Allahumma aslamtu wajhi ilaika, wa fauwadtu `Amri ilaika, wa alja'tu Zahri ilaika raghbatan wa rahbatan ilaika. La Malja'a wa la manja minka illa ilaika. Allahumma amantu bikitabika-l-ladhi anzalta wa bina-biyika-l ladhi arsalta (O Allah! I surrender to You and entrust all my affairs to You and depend upon You for Your Blessings both with hope and fear of You. There is no fleeing from You, and there is no place of protection and safety except with You O Allah! I believe in Your Book (the Qur'an) which You have revealed and in Your Prophet (Muhammad) whom You have sent). Then if you die on that very night, you will die with faith (i.e. or the religion of Islam). Let the aforesaid words be your last utterance (before sleep). I repeated it before the Prophet and when I reached Allahumma amantu bikitabika-l-ladhi anzalta (O Allah I believe in Your Book which You have revealed). I said, Wa-rasulika (and your Apostle). The Prophet said, No, (but say): 'Wanabiyika-l-ladhi arsalta (Your Prophet whom You have sent), instead.
