حَدَّثَنَا صَدَقَةُ بْنُ الْفَضْلِ ، أَخْبَرَنَا ابْنُ عُيَيْنَةَ ، عَنْ يَحْيَى ، سَمِعَ حَنْظَلَةَ الزُّرَقِيَّ ، عَنْ رَافِعٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ ، قَالَ : كُنَّا أَكْثَرَ أَهْلِ الْمَدِينَةِ حَقْلًا ، وَكَانَ أَحَدُنَا يُكْرِي أَرْضَهُ ، فَيَقُولُ : هَذِهِ الْقِطْعَةُ لِي وَهَذِهِ لَكَ ، فَرُبَّمَا أَخْرَجَتْ ذِهِ وَلَمْ تُخْرِجْ ذِهِ ، فَنَهَاهُمُ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ .
ہم سے صدقہ بن فضل نے بیان کیا، کہا کہ ہم کو سفیان بن عیینہ نے خبر دی، انہیں یحییٰ بن سعید انصاری نے، انہوں نے حنظلہ زرقی سے سنا کہ رافع بن خدیج رضی اللہ عنہ نے کہا کہ ہمارے پاس مدینہ کے دوسرے لوگوں کے مقابلے میں زمین زیادہ تھی۔ ہمارے یہاں طریقہ یہ تھا کہ جب زمین بصورت جنس کرایہ پر دیتے تو یہ شرط لگا دیتے کہ اس حصہ کی پیداوار تو میری رہے گی اور اس حصہ کی تمہاری رہے گی۔ پھر کبھی ایسا ہوتا کہ ایک حصہ کی پیداوار خوب ہوتی اور دوسرے کی نہ ہوتی۔ اس لیے نبی کریم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے لوگوں کو اس طرح معاملہ کرنے سے منع فرما دیا۔
Narrated Rafi`: We worked on farms more than anybody else in Medina. We used to rent the land and say to the owner, The yield of this portion is for us and the yield of that portion is for you (as the rent). One of those portions might yield something and the other might not. So, the Prophet forbade us to do so.

Narrated As-Sa'ib bin Yazid: Abu Sufyan bin Abu Zuhair, a man from Azd Shanu'a and one of the companions of the Prophet said, I heard Allah's Apostle saying, 'If one keeps a dog which is meant for guarding neither a farm nor cattle, one Qirat of the reward of his good deeds is deducted daily. I said, Did you hear this from Allah's Apostle? He said, Yes, by the Lord of this Mosque.

Narrated Abu Huraira: The Prophet said, While a man was riding a cow, it turned towards him and said, 'I have not been created for this purpose (i.e. carrying), I have been created for sloughing. The Prophet added, I, Abu Bakr and `Umar believe in the story. The Prophet went on, A wolf caught a sheep, and when the shepherd chased it, the wolf said, 'Who will be its guard on the day of wild beasts, when there will be no shepherd for it except me?' After narrating it, the Prophet said, I, Abu Bakr and `Umar too believe it. Abu Salama (a sub-narrator) said, Abu Bakr and `Umar were not present then.
