حَدَّثَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْعَزِيزِ ، عَنْ أَبِي حَازِمٍ ، عَنْ سَهْلِ بْنِ سَعْدٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ , قَالَ : بَلَغَ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَنَّ بَنِي عَمْرِو بْنِ عَوْفٍ بِقُبَاءٍ كَانَ بَيْنَهُمْ شَيْءٌ فَخَرَجَ يُصْلِحُ بَيْنَهُمْ فِي أُنَاسٍ مِنْ أَصْحَابِهِ ، فَحُبِسَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَحَانَتِ الصَّلَاةُ فَجَاءَ بِلَالٌإِلَى أَبِي بَكْرٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُمَا , فَقَالَ : يَا أَبَا بَكْرٍ إِنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَدْ حُبِسَ وَقَدْ حَانَتِ الصَّلَاةُ ، فَهَلْ لَكَ أَنْ تَؤُمَّ النَّاسَ ؟ قَالَ : نَعَمْ ، إِنْ شِئْتَ ، فَأَقَامَ بِلَالٌ الصَّلَاةَ وَتَقَدَّمَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ فَكَبَّرَ لِلنَّاسِ ، وَجَاءَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَمْشِي فِي الصُّفُوفِ يَشُقُّهَا شَقًّا حَتَّى قَامَ فِي الصَّفِّ فَأَخَذَ النَّاسُ فِي التَّصْفِيحِ , قَالَ سَهْلٌ : التَّصْفِيحُ هُوَ التَّصْفِيقُ ، قَالَ : وَكَانَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ لَا يَلْتَفِتُ فِي صَلَاتِهِ ، فَلَمَّا أَكْثَرَ النَّاسُ الْتَفَتَ فَإِذَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَأَشَارَ إِلَيْهِ يَأْمُرُهُ أَنْ يُصَلِّيَ , فَرَفَعَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ يَدَهُ فَحَمِدَ اللَّهَ ، ثُمَّ رَجَعَ الْقَهْقَرَى وَرَاءَهُ حَتَّى قَامَ فِي الصَّفِّ ، وَتَقَدَّمَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَصَلَّى لِلنَّاسِ ، فَلَمَّا فَرَغَ أَقْبَلَ عَلَى النَّاسِ , فَقَالَ : يَا أَيُّهَا النَّاسُ مَا لَكُمْ حِينَ نَابَكُمْ شَيْءٌ فِي الصَّلَاةِ أَخَذْتُمْ بِالتَّصْفِيحِ ، إِنَّمَا التَّصْفِيحُ لِلنِّسَاءِ مَنْ نَابَهُ شَيْءٌ فِي صَلَاتِهِ فَلْيَقُلْ سُبْحَانَ اللَّهِ ، ثُمَّ الْتَفَتَ إِلَى أَبِي بَكْرٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ , فَقَالَ : يَا أَبَا بَكْرٍ مَا مَنَعَكَ أَنْ تُصَلِّيَ لِلنَّاسِ حِينَ أَشَرْتُ إِلَيْكَ ؟ , قَالَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ : مَا كَانَ يَنْبَغِي لِابْنِ أَبِي قُحَافَةَ أَنْ يُصَلِّيَ بَيْنَ يَدَيْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ .
ہم سے قتیبہ بن سعید نے بیان کیا، انہوں نے کہا کہ ہم سے عبدالعزیز بن ابی حازم نے بیان کیا، ان سے ابوحازم سلمہ بن دینار نے اور ان سے سہل بن سعد رضی اللہ عنہ نے کہ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کو یہ خبر پہنچی کہ قباء کے قبیلہ بنو عمرو بن عوف میں کوئی جھگڑا ہو گیا ہے۔ اس لیے آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کئی اصحاب کو ساتھ لے کر ان میں صلح کرانے کے لیے تشریف لے گئے۔ وہاں آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم صلح صفائی کے لیے ٹھہر گئے۔ ادھر نماز کا وقت ہو گیا تو بلال رضی اللہ عنہ نے ابوبکر رضی اللہ عنہ سے کہا کہ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نہیں آئے اور نماز کا وقت ہو گیا، تو کیا آپ لوگوں کو نماز پڑھائیں گے؟ آپ نے جواب دیا کہ ہاں اگر تم چاہتے ہو تو پڑھا دوں گا۔ چنانچہ بلال رضی اللہ عنہ نے تکبیر کہی اور ابوبکر رضی اللہ عنہ نے آگے بڑھ کر نیت باندھ لی۔ اتنے میں رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم بھی تشریف لے آئے اور صفوں سے گزرتے ہوئے آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم پہلی صف میں آ کھڑے ہوئے، لوگوں نے ہاتھ پر ہاتھ مارنے شروع کر دیئے۔ ( سہل نے کہا کہ «تصفيح» کے معنی «تصفيق» کے ہیں ) آپ نے بیان کیا کہ ابوبکر رضی اللہ عنہ نماز میں کسی طرف متوجہ نہیں ہوتے تھے۔ لیکن جب لوگوں نے بہت دستکیں دیں تو انہوں نے دیکھا کہ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کھڑے ہیں۔ نبی کریم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے اشارہ سے ابوبکر کو نماز پڑھانے کے لیے کہا۔ اس پر ابوبکر رضی اللہ عنہ نے ہاتھ اٹھا کر اللہ تعالیٰ کا شکر ادا کیا اور پھر الٹے پاؤں پیچھے کی طرف چلے آئے اور صف میں کھڑے ہو گئے اور رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے آگے بڑھ کر نماز پڑھائی۔ نماز سے فارغ ہو کر آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم لوگوں کی طرف متوجہ ہوئے اور فرمایا کہ لوگو! یہ کیا بات ہے کہ جب نماز میں کوئی بات پیش آتی ہے تو تم تالیاں بجانے لگتے ہو۔ یہ مسئلہ تو عورتوں کے لیے ہے۔ تمہیں اگر نماز میں کوئی حادثہ پیش آئے تو «سبحان الله» کہا کرو۔ اس کے بعد آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم ابوبکر رضی اللہ عنہ کی طرف متوجہ ہوئے اور فرمایا کہ ابوبکر! میرے کہنے کے باوجود تم نے نماز کیوں نہیں پڑھائی؟ ابوبکر رضی اللہ عنہ نے عرض کیا کہ ابوقحافہ کے بیٹے کو زیب نہیں دیتا کہ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کی موجودگی میں نماز پڑھائے۔
Narrated Sahl bin Sa`d: The news about the differences amongst the people of Bani `Amr bin `Auf at Quba reached Allah's Apostle and so he went to them along with some of his companions to affect a reconciliation. Allah's Apostle was delayed there and the time for the prayer became due. Bilal came to Abu Bakr! and said, O Abu Bakr! Allah's Apostle is detained (there) and the time for the prayer is due. Will you lead the people in prayer? Abu Bakr replied, Yes, if you wish. So Bilal pronounced the Iqama and Abu Bakr went forward and the people said Takbir. In the meantime, Allah's Apostle came piercing through the rows till he stood in the (first) row and the people started clapping. Abu Bakr, would never look hither and thither during the prayer but when the people clapped much he looked back and saw Allah's Apostle. The Prophet beckoned him to carry on. Abu Bakr raised both his hands, praised Allah and retreated till he stood in the row and Allah's Apostle went forward and led the people in the prayer. When he had finished the prayer, he addressed the people and said, O people! Why did you start clapping when something happened to you in the prayer? Clapping is for women. Whenever one is confronted with something unusual in the prayer one should say, 'Sub Han Allah'. Then the Prophet looked towards Abu Bakr and asked, What prevented you from leading the prayer when I beckoned you to carry on? Abu Bakr replied, It does not befit the son of Al Quhafa to lead the prayer in the presence of Allah's Apostle.

Hadith 1198
Narrated Kuraib Maula Ibn `Abbas: `Abdullah bin `Abbas said that he had passed a night in the house of Maimuna the mother of the faithful believers , who was his aunt. He said, I slept across the bed, and Allah's Apostle along with his wife slept lengthwise. Allah's Apostle slept till midnight or slightly before or after it. Then Allah's Apostle woke up, sat, and removed the traces of sleep by rubbing his hands over his face. Then he recited the last ten verses of Surat-Al `Imran (2). Then he went towards a hanging leather watercontainer and performed a perfect ablution and then stood up for prayer. `Abdullah bin `Abbas added, I got up and did the same as Allah's Apostle had done and then went and stood by his side. Allah's Apostle then put his right hand over my head and caught my right ear and twisted it. He offered two rak`at, then two rak`at, then two rak`at, then two rak`at, then two rak`at, then two rak`at and then offered one rak`a witr. Then he lay down till the Mu'adh-dhin came and then he prayed two light rak`at and went out and offered the early morning (Fajr) prayer.

Narrated `Abdullah: We used to greet the Prophet while he was praying and he used to answer our greetings. When we returned from An-Najashi (the ruler of Ethiopia), we greeted him, but he did not answer us (during the prayer) and (after finishing the prayer) he said, In the prayer one is occupied (with a more serious matter).

Will you lead the people in the prayer? Abu Bakr replied, Yes, if you wish. So Bilal pronounced the Iqama and Abu Bakr led the prayer. In the meantime the Prophet came crossing the rows (of the praying people) till he stood in the first row and the people started clapping. Abu Bakr never looked hither and thither during the prayer but when the people clapped too much, he looked back and saw the Prophet in the (first) row. The Prophet waved him to remain at his place, but Abu Bakr raised both his hands and sent praises to Allah and then retreated and the Prophet went forward and led the prayer. Narrated `Abdullah bin Mas`ud: We used to say the greeting, name and greet each other in the prayer. Allah's Apostle heard it and said:-- Say, 'at-tahiyyatu lil-lahi was-salawatu wat-taiyibatu . Assalamu 'Alaika aiyuha-n-Nabiyu warahmatu- l-lahi wa-barakatuhu. _ Assalamu alaina wa-'ala 'ibadi-l-lahi as-salihin.. Ashhadu an la ilaha illa-l-lah wa ashhadu anna Muhammadan `Abdu hu wa Rasuluh. (All the compliments are for Allah and all the prayers and all the good things (are for Allah). Peace be on you, O Prophet, and Allah's mercy and blessings (are on you). And peace be on us and on the good (pious) worshipers of Allah. I testify that none has the right to be worshipped but Allah and that Muhammad is His slave and Apostle.) So, when you have said this, then you have surely sent the greetings to every good (pious) worshipper of Allah, whether he be in the Heaven or on the Earth .
