حَدَّثَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ، حَدَّثَنَا بِشْرُ بْنُ الْمُفَضَّلِ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُثْمَانَ بْنِ خُثَيْمٍ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ جُبَيْرٍ، عَنْ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ، قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: الْبَسُوا مِنْ ثِيَابِكُمُ الْبَيَاضَ، فَإِنَّهَا مِنْ خَيْرِ ثِيَابِكُمْ وَكَفِّنُوا فِيهَا مَوْتَاكُمْ . وَفِي الْبَاب: عَنْ سَمُرَةَ، وَابْنِ عُمَرَ، وَعَائِشَةَ. قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى: حَدِيثُ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ صَحِيحٌ، وَهُوَ الَّذِي يَسْتَحِبُّهُ أَهْلُ الْعِلْمِ، وقَالَ ابْنُ الْمُبَارَكِ: أَحَبُّ إِلَيَّ أَنْ يُكَفَّنَ فِي ثِيَابِهِ الَّتِي كَانَ يُصَلِّي فِيهَا، وقَالَ أَحْمَدُ، وَإِسْحَاق: أَحَبُّ الثِّيَابِ إِلَيْنَا أَنْ يُكَفَّنَ فِيهَا الْبَيَاضُ وَيُسْتَحَبُّ حُسْنُ الْكَفَنِ.
عبداللہ بن عباس رضی الله عنہما کہتے ہیں کہ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: ”تم سفید کپڑے پہنو، کیونکہ یہ تمہارے بہترین کپڑوں میں سے ہیں اور اسی میں اپنے مردوں کو بھی کفناؤ“ ۱؎۔ امام ترمذی کہتے ہیں: ۱- ابن عباس رضی الله عنہما کی حدیث حسن صحیح ہے، ۲- اس باب میں سمرہ، ابن عمر اور عائشہ رضی الله عنہم سے بھی احادیث آئی ہیں، ۳- اور اہل علم اسی کو مستحب قرار دیتے ہیں۔ ابن مبارک کہتے ہیں: میرے نزدیک مستحب یہ ہے کہ آدمی انہی کپڑوں میں کفنایا جائے جن میں وہ نماز پڑھتا تھا، ۴- احمد اور اسحاق بن راہویہ کہتے ہیں: کفنانے کے لیے میرے نزدیک سب سے پسندیدہ کپڑا سفید رنگ کا کپڑا ہے۔ اور اچھا کفن دینا مستحب ہے۔
Ibn Abbas narrated that: The Messenger of Allah said: Wear the white among your garments, for indeed they are among the best of your garments, and shroud your dead in them.

Thuwair [and he is Ibn Abi Fakhitah] narrated that : His father said: Ali took me by the hand and said: 'Come with us to pay a visit to Al-Hasan.' So we found that Abu Musa was with him.' Ali - peace be upon him - said: 'O Abu Musa! Did you come to visit (the sick) or merely (stop by to) visit?' He said: 'No, to visit (the sick).' So Ali said: 'I heard the Messenger of Allah saying: No Muslim visits (the sick) Muslims in the morning, except that sevety-thousand angels, sent Salat upon him until the evening, and he does not visit at night except that seventy thousand angels sent Salat upon him until the morning, and there will be a garden for him in Paradise.
