حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيل بْنُ مُوسَى كُوفِيٌّ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَهَنَّادٌ، وَمُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عُبَيْدٍ الْمُحَارِبِيُّ الْمَعْنَى وَاحِدٌ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالُوا:‏‏‏‏ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ السَّلَامِ بْنُ حَرْبٍ الْمُلَائِيُّ، عَنْ أَبِي خَالِدٍ الدَّالَانِيِّ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ، عَنْ أَبِي الْعَالِيَةِ، عَنْ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ، أَنَّهُ رَأَى النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ نَامَ وَهُوَ سَاجِدٌ حَتَّى غَطَّ أَوْ نَفَخَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏ثُمَّ قَامَ يُصَلِّي فَقُلْتُ:‏‏‏‏ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ إِنَّكَ قَدْ نِمْتَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ إِنَّ الْوُضُوءَ لَا يَجِبُ إِلَّا عَلَى مَنْ نَامَ مُضْطَجِعًا، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَإِنَّهُ إِذَا اضْطَجَعَ اسْتَرْخَتْ مَفَاصِلُهُ . قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى:‏‏‏‏ وَأَبُو خَالِدٍ اسْمُهُ:‏‏‏‏ يَزِيدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ وَفِي الْبَاب عَنْ عَائِشَةَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَابْنِ مَسْعُودٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَأَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ.

عبداللہ بن عباس رضی الله عنہما کہتے ہیں کہ   میں نے نبی اکرم صلی الله علیہ وسلم کو دیکھا کہ آپ سجدے کی حالت میں سو گئے یہاں تک کہ آپ خرانٹے لینے لگے، پھر کھڑے ہو کر نماز پڑھنے لگے، تو میں نے عرض کیا: اللہ کے رسول! آپ تو سو گئے تھے؟ آپ نے فرمایا: ”وضو صرف اس پر واجب ہوتا ہے جو چت لیٹ کر سوئے اس لیے کہ جب آدمی لیٹ جاتا ہے تو اس کے جوڑ ڈھیلے ہو جاتے ہیں“ ۱؎۔ امام ترمذی کہتے ہیں: اس باب میں عائشہ، ابن مسعود، اور ابوہریرہ رضی الله عنہم سے بھی احادیث آئی ہیں۔

Ibn Abbas narrated that : he saw the Prophet sleeping, while in the prostration position, until he snored or snorted. Then he stoodup to pray. So I said: O Messenger of Allah! You were sleeping? He said: Wudu is not required except for sleeping while reclining. For when one reclines, joints relax.

Anas bin Malik said: When the Prophet entered the toilet he would say: 'O Allah Indeed I seek refuge in You.' Shu'bah (one of the narrators) said: Another time he said: 'I seek refuge in You from AI-Khubthi and al-Khablth.' Or: 'Al-Khubthi and Al-Khaba'ith.'
