حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ حُجْرٍ، حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيل بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ، عَنْ حُمَيْدٍ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ، أَنَّهُ سُئِلَ عَنْ صَوْمِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، قَالَ: كَانَ يَصُومُ مِنَ الشَّهْرِ حَتَّى نَرَى أَنَّهُ لَا يُرِيدُ أَنْ يُفْطِرَ مِنْهُ، وَيُفْطِرُ حَتَّى نَرَى أَنَّهُ لَا يُرِيدُ أَنْ يَصُومَ مِنْهُ شَيْئًا، وَكُنْتَ لَا تَشَاءُ أَنْ تَرَاهُ مِنَ اللَّيْلِ مُصَلِّيًا إِلَّا رَأَيْتَهُ مُصَلِّيًا وَلَا نَائِمًا إِلَّا رَأَيْتَهُ نَائِمًا . قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى: هَذَا حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ صَحِيحٌ.
انس بن مالک رضی الله عنہ سے روایت ہے کہ ان سے نبی اکرم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کے روزوں کے بارے میں سوال کیا گیا تو انہوں نے کہا: آپ کسی مہینے میں اتنے روزے رکھتے کہ ہم سمجھتے: اب آپ کا ارادہ روزے بند کرنے کا نہیں ہے، اور کبھی بغیر روزے کے رہتے یہاں تک کہ ہمیں خیال ہوتا کہ آپ کوئی روزہ رکھیں گے ہی نہیں۔ اور آپ کو رات کے جس حصہ میں بھی تم نماز پڑھنا دیکھنا چاہتے نماز پڑھتے دیکھ لیتے اور جس حصہ میں سوتے ہوئے دیکھنا چاہتے تو سوتے ہوئے دیکھ لیتے۔ امام ترمذی کہتے ہیں: یہ حدیث حسن صحیح ہے۔
Jafar bin Humaid narrated that: Anas bin Malik was asked about the Prophet's fasting and he said: He would fast during a month until we thought that he did not want to abstain from fasting during any of it. And, he would not fast during a month until we thought that he did not want to fast during any of it. (There was no time) that I wanted to see if he was performing Salat during the night, except that I would see him praying, nor to see him sleeping, except that I would see him sleeping.

Abu Hurairah narrated that : the Messenger of Allah said: On the first night of the month of Ramadan, the Shayatin are shackled, the jinns are restrained, the gates of the Fires are shut such that no gate among them would be opened. The gates of Paradise are opened such that no gate among them would be closed, and a caller calls: 'O seeker of the good; come near!' and 'O seeker of evil; stop!
