حَدَّثَنَا هَنَّادٌ،‏‏‏‏ وَقُتَيْبَةُ،‏‏‏‏ قَالَا:‏‏‏‏ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الْأَحْوَصِ، عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاق، عَنْ أَبِي حَيَّةَ، قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ رَأَيْتُ عَلِيًّا تَوَضَّأَ فَغَسَلَ كَفَّيْهِ حَتَّى أَنْقَاهُمَا ثُمَّ مَضْمَضَ ثَلَاثًا،‏‏‏‏ وَاسْتَنْشَقَ ثَلَاثًا،‏‏‏‏ وَغَسَلَ وَجْهَهُ ثَلَاثًا،‏‏‏‏ وَذِرَاعَيْهِ ثَلَاثًا،‏‏‏‏ وَمَسَحَ بِرَأْسِهِ مَرَّةً،‏‏‏‏ ثُمَّ غَسَلَ قَدَمَيْهِ إِلَى الْكَعْبَيْنِ،‏‏‏‏ ثُمَّ قَامَ فَأَخَذَ فَضْلَ طَهُورِهِ فَشَرِبَهُ وَهُوَ قَائِمٌ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏ثُمَّ قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ أَحْبَبْتُ أَنْ أُرِيَكُمْ كَيْفَ كَانَ طُهُورُ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ . قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى:‏‏‏‏ وَفِي الْبَاب عَنْ عُثْمَانَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَعَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ زَيْدٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَعَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَمْرٍو، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَالرُّبَيِّعِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَعَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ أُنَيْسٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَعَائِشَةَ رِضْوَانُ اللَّهِ عَلَيْهِمْ

ابوحیہ کہتے ہیں کہ  میں نے علی رضی الله عنہ کو دیکھا کہ انہوں نے وضو کیا تو اپنے دونوں پہنچے دھوئے یہاں تک کہ انہیں خوب صاف کیا، پھر تین بار کلی کی، تین بار ناک میں پانی چڑھایا، تین بار اپنا چہرہ دھویا پھر ‌تین ‌دفعہ ‌بازو ‌دھوئے اور ایک بار اپنے سر کا مسح کیا، پھر اپنے دونوں پاؤں ٹخنوں تک دھوئے، پھر کھڑے ہوئے اور وضو سے بچے ہوئے پانی کو کھڑے کھڑے پی لیا ۱؎، پھر کہا: میں نے تمہیں دکھانا چاہا کہ رسول اللہ صلی الله علیہ وسلم کا وضو کیسے ہوتا تھا۔ امام ترمذی کہتے ہیں: ۱- اس باب میں عثمان، عبداللہ بن زید، ابن عباس، عبداللہ بن عمرو، ربیع، عبداللہ بن انیس اور عائشہ رضوان اللہ علیہم سے بھی احادیث آئی ہیں۔

Abu Hayyah narrated: I saw Ali performing Wudu. He washed his hands until he cleaned them, then he rinsed out his mouth three times, sniffed water into his nose and blew it out three times, washed his face three times, and his forearms three times. He wiped his head once, then he washed his feet up to the ankles. Then he stood up, taking what was left over from his purification (water) and drank it while he was standing. Then he said, 'I wanted to show you how Allah's Messenger purified himself.'

Ibn `Umar narrated that: the Prophet said: Salat will not be accepted without purification, nor Charity from Ghulul. Anas bin Malik said: When the Prophet entered the toilet he would say: 'O Allah Indeed I seek refuge in You.' Shu'bah (one of the narrators) said: Another time he said: 'I seek refuge in You from AI-Khubthi and al-Khablth.' Or: 'Al-Khubthi and Al-Khaba'ith.'
