حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ حُمَيْدٍ، حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ أَبِي بَكْرٍ، عَنِ الْجَرَّاحِ بْنِ الضَّحَّاكِ الْكِنْدِيِّ، عَنْ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُكَيْمٍ، عَنْ عُمَرَ بْنِ الْخَطَّابِ، قَالَ: عَلَّمَنِي رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ: قُلْ: اللَّهُمَّ اجْعَلْ سَرِيرَتِي خَيْرًا مِنْ عَلَانِيَتِي، وَاجْعَلْ عَلَانِيَتِي صَالِحَةً، اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ مِنْ صَالِحِ مَا تُؤْتِي النَّاسَ مِنَ الْمَالِ وَالْأَهْلِ وَالْوَلَدِ غَيْرِ الضَّالِّ وَلَا الْمُضِلِّ . قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى: هَذَا غَرِيبٌ، لَا نَعْرِفُهُ إِلَّا مِنْ هَذَا الْوَجْهِ وَلَيْسَ إِسْنَادُهُ بِالْقَوِيِّ.
عمر بن خطاب رضی الله عنہ کہتے ہیں کہ ہمیں رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے سکھایا، آپ نے فرمایا: ”کہو «اللهم اجعل سريرتي خيرا من علانيتي واجعل علانيتي صالحة اللهم إني أسألك من صالح ما تؤتي الناس من المال والأهل والولد غير الضال ولا المضل» ”اے اللہ! میرا باطن میرے ظاہر سے اچھا کر دے اور میرے ظاہر کو نیک کر دے۔ اور لوگوں کو جو مال تو بیوی اور بچے کی شکل میں دیتا ہے ان میں سے اچھا مال دے جو نہ خود گمراہ ہوں اور نہ دوسروں کو گمراہ کریں“۔ امام ترمذی کہتے ہیں: یہ حدیث غریب ہے، ہم اسے صرف اسی سند سے جانتے ہیں اور اس کی سند قوی نہیں ہے۔
`Umar bin Al-Khattab said: “The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) taught me, saying: ‘Say: “O Allah, make my secret better than my apparent condition, and make my apparent condition righteous. O Allah, I ask You for the righteous of what you give to the people, of wealth, wives, and children, not (to be) misguided, nor misguiding. (Allāhummaj`al sarīratī khairan min `alāniyatī waj`al `alāniyatī ṣāliha. Allāhumma innī as’aluka min ṣālihi mā tu’tin-nāsa minal-māli wal-ahli wal waladi, ghairaḍ-ḍāli wa lal-muḍil).”

When we returned, we overlooked Al-Madinah, and the people were pronouncing the Takbīr, and they raised their voices with it. The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: ‘Verily, your Lord is not deaf nor absent, He is between you and between the heads of your mounts.’ Then he said: ‘O `Abdullah bin Qais, should I not inform you of a treasure from the treasures of Paradise: Lā ḥawla wa lā quwwata illā billāh (There is no might or power except by Allah).’”
