حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ مَعْمَرٍ أَبُو عَبْدِ اللَّهِ الْبَصْرِيُّ، حَدَّثَنَا رَوْحُ بْنُ عُبَادَةَ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ، أَخْبَرَنِي مُوسَى بْنُ أَنَسٍ، قَال:‏‏‏‏ سَمِعْتُ أَنَسَ بْنَ مَالِكٍ، يَقُولُ:‏‏‏‏ قَالَ رَجُلٌ:‏‏‏‏ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏مَنْ أَبِي ؟ قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ أَبُوكَ فُلَانٌ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَنَزَلَتْ يَأَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا لا تَسْأَلُوا عَنْ أَشْيَاءَ إِنْ تُبْدَ لَكُمْ تَسُؤْكُمْ سورة المائدة آية 101 ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى:‏‏‏‏ هَذَا حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ صَحِيحٌ غَرِيبٌ.

انس بن مالک رضی الله عنہ کہتے ہیں کہ   ایک شخص نے کہا: اللہ کے رسول! میرا باپ کون ہے ۱؎ آپ نے فرمایا: ”تمہارا باپ فلاں ہے، راوی کہتے ہیں: پھر یہ آیت نازل ہوئی: «يا أيها الذين آمنوا لا تسألوا عن أشياء إن تبد لكم تسؤكم» ”اے ایمان والو! ایسی چیزیں مت پوچھا کرو کہ اگر وہ بیان کر دی جائیں تو تم کو برا لگے“۔ امام ترمذی کہتے ہیں: یہ حدیث حسن صحیح غریب ہے۔

Narrated Anas bin Malik: that a man said: O Messenger of Allah! Who is my father? He said: Your father is so-and-so. He said: So (the following) was revealed: O you who believe! Ask not about things which, if made plain to you, may cause you trouble (5:101).
