حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو سَعِيدٍ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنِ سَعِيدٍ الْأَشَجُّ، حَدَّثَنَا حَفْصُ بْنُ غِيَاثٍ، وَعُقْبَةُ بْنُ خَالِدٍ، قَالَا: حَدَّثَنَا الْأَعْمَشُ، وَابْنُ أَبِي لَيْلَى، عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ مُرَّةَ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ سَلِمَةَ، عَنْ عَلِيٍّ، قَالَ: كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يُقْرِئُنَا الْقُرْآنَ عَلَى كُلِّ حَالٍ مَا لَمْ يَكُنْ جُنُبًا . قال أبو عيسى: حَدِيثُ عَلِيٍّ هَذَا حَسَنٌ صَحِيحٌ، وَبِهِ قَالَ: غَيْرُ وَاحِدٍ مِنْ أَهْلِ الْعِلْمِ أَصْحَابِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَالتَّابِعِينَ، قَالُوا: يَقْرَأُ الرَّجُلُ الْقُرْآنَ عَلَى غَيْرِ وُضُوءٍ وَلَا يَقْرَأُ فِي الْمُصْحَفِ إِلَّا وَهُوَ طَاهِرٌ، وَبِهِ يَقُولُ سُفْيَانُ الثَّوْرِيُّ، وَالشَّافِعِيُّ، وَأَحْمَدُ، وَإِسْحَاقُ.
علی رضی الله عنہ کہتے ہیں کہ رسول اللہ صلی الله علیہ وسلم ہمیں قرآن پڑھاتے تھے۔ خواہ کوئی بھی حالت ہو جب تک کہ آپ جنبی نہ ہوتے۔ امام ترمذی کہتے ہیں: ۱- علی رضی الله عنہ کی یہ حدیث حسن صحیح ہے ۱؎، ۲- صحابہ کرام اور تابعین میں سے کئی اہل علم کا یہی قول ہے کہ آدمی وضو کے بغیر قرآن پڑھ سکتا ہے، لیکن مصحف میں دیکھ کر اسی وقت پڑھے جب وہ باوضو ہو۔ سفیان ثوری، شافعی، احمد اور اسحاق بن راہویہ کا بھی یہی قول ہے۔
Ali narrated: Allah's Messenger would recite the Qur'an in all conditions, as long as he was not Junub.

Ibn `Umar narrated that: the Prophet said: Salat will not be accepted without purification, nor Charity from Ghulul.
