حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو كُرَيْبٍ، وَمُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَمْرٍو السَّوَّاقُ، قَالَا: حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ الْيَمَانِ، عَنْ الْمِنْهَالِ بْنِ خَلِيفَةَ، عَنْ الْحَجَّاجِ بْنِ أَرْطَاةَ، عَنْ عَطَاءٍ، عَنْ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ، أَنّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ دَخَلَ قَبْرًا لَيْلًا فَأُسْرِجَ لَهُ سِرَاجٌ فَأَخَذَهُ مِنْ قِبَلِ الْقِبْلَةِ، وَقَالَ: رَحِمَكَ اللَّهُ إِنْ كُنْتَ لَأَوَّاهًا تَلَّاءً لِلْقُرْآنِ، وَكَبَّرَ عَلَيْهِ أَرْبَعًا . قَالَ: وَفِي الْبَاب، عَنْ جَابِرٍ، وَيَزِيدَ بْنِ ثَابِتٍ وَهُوَ أَخُو زَيْدِ بْنِ ثَابِتٍ أَكْبَرُ مِنْهُ. قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى: حَدِيثُ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ، وَقَدْ ذَهَبَ بَعْضُ أَهْلِ الْعِلْمِ إِلَى هَذَا، وَقَالُوا: يُدْخَلُ الْمَيِّتُ الْقَبْرَ مِنْ قِبَلِ الْقِبْلَةِ، وقَالَ بَعْضُهُمْ: يُسَلُّ سَلًّا، وَرَخَّصَ أَكْثَرُ أَهْلِ الْعِلْمِ فِي الدَّفْنِ بِاللَّيْلِ.
عبداللہ بن عباس رضی الله عنہما کہتے ہیں کہ نبی اکرم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم ایک قبر میں رات کو داخل ہوئے تو آپ کے لیے ایک چراغ روشن کیا گیا۔ آپ نے میت کو قبلے کی طرف سے لیا۔ اور فرمایا: اللہ تم پر رحم کرے! تم بہت نرم دل رونے والے، اور بہت زیادہ قرآن کی تلاوت کرنے والے تھے۔ اور آپ نے اس پر چار تکبیریں کہیں۔ امام ترمذی کہتے ہیں: ۱- ابن عباس کی حدیث حسن ہے، ۲- اس باب میں جابر اور یزید بن ثابت سے بھی احادیث آئی ہیں اور یزید بن ثابت، زید بن ثابت کے بھائی ہیں، اور ان سے بڑے ہیں، ۳- بعض اہل علم اسی طرف گئے ہیں، وہ کہتے ہیں کہ میت کو قبر میں قبلے کی طرف سے اتارا جائے گا ۱؎، ۴- بعض کہتے ہیں: پائتانے کی طرف سے رکھ کر کھینچ لیں گے ۲؎، ۵- اور اکثر اہل علم نے رات کو دفن کرنے کی اجازت دی ہے ۳؎۔
Ibn Abbas narrated: The Prophet entered a grave during the night, so a torch was lit for him. He took it (the deceased) in from the direction of the Qiblah, and he said: 'May Allah have mercy upon you, you were often invoking (Allah) by reciting the Qur'an.' And he said: 'Allahu Akbar four times.

Thuwair [and he is Ibn Abi Fakhitah] narrated that : His father said: Ali took me by the hand and said: 'Come with us to pay a visit to Al-Hasan.' So we found that Abu Musa was with him.' Ali - peace be upon him - said: 'O Abu Musa! Did you come to visit (the sick) or merely (stop by to) visit?' He said: 'No, to visit (the sick).' So Ali said: 'I heard the Messenger of Allah saying: No Muslim visits (the sick) Muslims in the morning, except that sevety-thousand angels, sent Salat upon him until the evening, and he does not visit at night except that seventy thousand angels sent Salat upon him until the morning, and there will be a garden for him in Paradise.
