The Sensitive Price Index (SPI), which measures short-term inflation, showed a modest decline to 29.24% year-over-year (YoY) for the week ending November 10, according to statistics released by the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS) on Friday.
Since reaching a record of 45.5 percent in the week ending September 1, the yearly gain in SPI has been declining. YoY inflation last week was recorded at 30.6pc. According to the most recent PBS statistics, inflation was 0.74 percent week-over-week (WoW), down from 0.53 percent previous week and a record 4.13 percent for the week that ended on October 27.
Based on a study of 50 marketplaces in 17 locations throughout the nation, the SPI tracks the costs of 51 necessities. Out of 51 goods, 22 saw price increases during the week under review, 14 had price decreases, and 15 had unchanged pricing.
