In a significant move aimed at improving the welfare of government employees, the Punjab caretaker cabinet, under the leadership of CM Mohsin Naqvi, recently approved a substantial increase in salaries.

Employees in grades 1 to 16 will witness a boost of 35 per cent in their earnings, while those in grades 17 to 22 will benefit from a 30 per cent salary hike.

Additionally, pensions received a generous 17.5 percent increase, providing better support for retired individuals. While addressing concerns over the rising cost of sugar, CM Naqvi directed the implementation of “lasting measures” to combat sugar smuggling and stabilize commodity prices. This proactive approach seeks to ensure the availability of sugar at reasonable prices, benefiting the general public.

Furthermore, the cabinet demonstrated its commitment to enhancing emergency response capabilities by approving the purchase of two new helicopters for Rescue 1122.

With one helicopter serving as an air ambulance and the other aiding rescue operations during floods and emergencies, the government aims to bolster its disaster relief efforts.

Recognizing the potential threat of flooding, the cabinet took decisive action and decided to evacuate localities in the pathway of River Ravi. This proactive measure aims to safeguard the lives and properties of citizens, ensuring their safety during times of natural disasters.

In the pursuit of strengthening healthcare services, the cabinet granted approval for the constitution of the Board of Management of the Institute of Public Health under the Punjab Medical and Health Institution Act 2023. This step signifies the government’s dedication to enhancing the quality of healthcare facilities and promoting public health.

The commitment to infrastructural development was evident in the cabinet’s approval of projects such as the construction of the Multan railways gate and a flyover on the Shujabad expressway under the Annual Development Programme. These initiatives reflect the government’s vision of progress and prosperity for the province.

Additionally, an amendment to decrease rates in the transfer policy of Excise and Taxation was approved, aiming to streamline processes and provide convenience to the general public.
