Punjab Chief Minister Chaudhry Parvez Elahi, while chairing the 10th meeting of the Punjab Journalist Housing Foundation’s board at his office, announced the launch of the second phase of the Lahore Press Club housing scheme.
The CM explained that land would be provided in the tehsil Cantt, with 500 kanals set aside to allocate 5 Marla plots in the Ashiana Housing Scheme, as per the media persons.
The illegal allotment of 15 plots in LPC’s B-Block was canceled during the meeting, and the CM stressed that the plots would be transparently allotted to the rightful B-Block residents. He also directed the police to evict the illegal occupants of the Press Club housing scheme’s B-Block and assured B-Block residents that their rights would be respected.
Furthermore, the minister convened a meeting to address the issue of B-block residents as soon as possible. The chief minister requested recommendations for the Faisalabad Press Club housing scheme, which will provide 468 plots of five Marlas each. He waived the Rs.35 crores in interest payments that the PJHF owed the finance department.
He announced plans to launch journalist housing schemes in other districts in stages, noting that a housing scheme for journalists was established 18 years ago. He concluded that hundreds of plots had been distributed to journalists in Lahore, Rawalpindi, and Multan to enable them to realize their dream of owning a home.
President National Press Club Islamabad Anwar Raza, Press Secretary to CM Ch Muhammad Iqbal, President Lahore Press Club Muhammad Azam Ch., General Secretary PFUJ Rana Muhammad Azim, President Rawalpindi Press Club Cooperative Housing Society Rana Muhammad Tahir, MD PJHF Rao Parvez Akhtar, and others were also present during the meeting.
While MPAs Sajid Ahmad Khan Bhatti, Zainab Umair, SMBR, secretary information, commissioner Lahore, CCPO Lahore, secretary forest, secretary settlement commissioner BoR, DC Lahore, DG LDA, DC Rawalpindi, DG FDA, and DGPR attended the meeting.
