Senate Committee Urges Swift Completion Of Fgeha Housing Projects

The Standing Committee on Housing and Construction has issued a directive to the Federal Government Employees Housing Authority (FGEHA), emphasizing the swift completion of housing projects earmarked for government employees.


During a meeting, the FGEHA Director General informed the committee about delays in four projects initiated in 2020, attributing the setbacks to a substantial surge in material prices.


Despite achieving a 34% booking in Chaklala Heights Apartments, construction had to be halted. The Director General underscored the intention to award new contracts based on current rates. Senator Afnanullah Khan voiced concern over the project’s delayed commencement, highlighting prior assurances given to the committee regarding its timely initiation.


With a current investment of PKR 258 million, the committee chairman directed FGEHA officials to engage with Senators Saifullah and Fida Muhammad to promptly address the intricacies of the issue. The meeting underscored the imperative of transparency, efficiency, and accountability in ensuring the timely completion of government housing projects.
