The Peshawar Northern Bypass project, which intends to relieve traffic congestion in Peshawar, is expected to be completed in March 2024.
According to a National Highway Authority (NHA), official, land-related issues had previously slowed the project’s progress, but the NHA and other officials worked collaboratively to address these problems.
He clarified that the contractor had been mobilised and that work was currently underway, with the goal of finishing the project by March 2024.
Moreover, the first phase of the project was finished, and the second phase, spanning 12 kilometres, is now fully operational.
Contractors have been directed to work double shifts to expedite the project’s completion.
It should be noted that the bypass is predicted to substantially improve traffic in Peshawar and to be a “game changer for the region.”
Furthermore, the official stated that project 3A had an 80% completion rate, whereas project 3B was in the process of being launched.
Last year, Peshawar’s Deputy Commissioner (DC) Shafiullah Khan denied rumours that a historic mosque in the provincial capital would be demolished to make way for a commercial plaza.
In a video message, the Deputy Commissioner stated that such news on social media was false and untrue.
He stated that the Peshawar Development Authority and Communications and Works expert teams inspected the “Speen Jomaat” mosque building and discovered that it was in poor condition, putting hundreds of worshippers in danger in the event of an accident.
He added that 60 seminary students were relocated to a rented location to finish their studies.
In addition, the mosque would be shut down initially for safety reasons, and then a new mosque with all the latest amenities would be built on the same site, along with a seminary section for children with all educational facilities.
The Deputy Commissioner clarified that the site’s land was not owned by any individual, noting that it was bought for University Town in 1956 and then provided to the mosque by the administration at the time.
