Chaudhry Muhammad Ali Randhawa, Commissioner of Lahore, has directed the Lahore Development Authority’s (LDA) Engineering Wing to complete the Ferozepur Road flyover by mid-April.

According to the sources, citizens are having difficulty crossing the Gulab Devi Hospital underpass because of heavy traffic jams at the under-construction flyover. Highlighting this issue, the commissioner directed LDA to complete the flyover as soon as possible.

Randhawa took a visit?to the construction site to check on the progress. He gave the LDA a project completion deadline of nearly 65 days.

The commissioner added that the expansion of the Lahore Flyover will greatly enhance traffic flow. He asked the railway authorities as well as other departments to work with the LDA to complete the flyover on time.

He instructed the department to work nonstop until the Lahore Flyover was completed on time.

Moreover,?the elevated motorway project to alleviate traffic congestion in Lahore has been included in the Master Plan 2050. Since the project’s estimated cost has risen to Rs. 85 billion, the provincial finance department will need federal government approval to proceed.

Sources reported that after?numerous kickoff delays, the project’s cost has risen by Rs. 54 billion. The plan calls for an elevated track from Gulberg’s Home Economics College to the highway, bypassing Samanabad, Shadman, Ferozepur Road, and Gulshan Ravi.

The project was scheduled to last 15 months. However, as a result of ongoing delays and rising inflation, construction costs are vigorously increasing.

In another development, the LDA launched an anti-encroachment campaign with a bid?to transform nine city roads into model roads.

According to the sources, the operation is being carried out under the supervision of the Lahore High Court with the goal of removing encroachments from plaza parking areas and enforcing building regulations.

In this regard, LDA Director General Amir Ahmed Khan stated that notices were issued to schools, colleges, hospitals, restaurants, and other commercial building administrations to remove encroachments and enforce building regulations.
