Afridi’s decision may come as a surprise to some, given his status as a national hero. Since his presentation at the age of 17, Afridi has been a household name in Pakistan.

With a career that spread over all formats of cricket, he became one of the most popular figures in the game. Indeed, even after resigning from international cricket, Afridi continued to shine in different associations, proving that his star power was a long way from fading.

Presently, Afridi is focusing on rewarding the community through his philanthropic efforts. His foundation, the Shahid Afridi Foundation, is devoted to different social norms, including medical services and schooling.

Previous Pakistani cricketer and captain of the Pakistan national cricket team Shahid Khan Afridi recently showed up as a visitor at Ushna Shah’s show ‘After Hour’ on channel 367, where he shared the response to the most asked query these days.

We have recently seen media anchors and channel proprietors arriving at the most elevated echelons of government and some possessing strong seats in the power structure because, well, everything is possible in Pakistan.

Individuals are curious whether Shahid Afridi wanted to accomplish something almost identical, as he gave a few political statements in the previous year.

During the discussion with the host, Ushna Shah Amin, the all-rounder said that he wanted to join politics and host a party in mind, but after 2021 he decided against it.

He would rather not join politics now and simply needs to focus on charity. Afridi trusts individuals in power here don’t work and just continue to battle, and in this way, he will stay away from that.

Meanwhile, the popular sensation didn’t quit pointing fingers at the style of politics practiced in Pakistan. Consequently, he finds it much better to do philanthropy.

A Different Way

Afridi’s decision to avoid politics is a glaring difference to another cricket legend, Imran Khan. The 1992 World Cup-winning captain not only entered politics as well as established his party, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).

Khan proceeded to become the Prime Minister of Pakistan after a notable win in the 2018 general elections. However, for Afridi, the allure of politics doesn’t compare to the satisfaction of philanthropy.

As he keeps on having an effect through his foundation, it’s clear that Afridi has found his calling—one that doesn’t include the chaos of politics is similarly significant.
