According to the PIA’s released data, the national airline suffered from the loss of Rs.38 billion during the first three months of the current year. Moreover, the overall losses of the national airline will cross over the Rs 800 billion mark by the end of the ongoing calendar year.

The financial report of PIA says that it had the loss by 171 percent more than during the same three months of previous year. From January to March 2023, PIA earned only Rs.61 billion.

The report reveals that the loss of Rs.21 billion was due to the depreciation of local currency against US dollar. The other factors which caused the loss include the increasing prices of oil and rise in the interest rate. Moreover the operating losses also enhanced by Rs.15 billion to Rs.43 billion.

According to the Aviation rules, the airports are established away from the population and for that matter, the distance of specific millage is kept in view but in Pakistan, it is perhaps not understood necessary as almost all the airports of the country are surrounded by heavy population.

A very important cause for the financial loss of Pakistan International Airline is the striking of birds with the aircrafts. As per sources of the airline, 29 birds hit the planes during the first five months of this year.

Maximum incidents of striking the birds took place at Karachi and Lahore airports and seven aircrafts were damaged.

Recently, Flight?PK-310—an ?Airbus-320 flying from Karachi to Quetta was hit by a bird just after the flight. The captain contacted the control room tower and asked for the permission to land the plane again.

The aircraft was taken to the hanger and passengers were shifted to the lounge. It was found that six blades of the plane’s engine were damaged due to bird strike.

The passengers were sent through an alternative flight. According to the reports of PIA, at the airports of Karachi, Lahore, Islamabad, Faisalabad, Sukkur, Quetta, Peshawar, Gilgit and Multan 10 birds stroke with the aircrafts only in the month of May 2023. ??
