Sajjad Mustafa Syed, the chairman of the Pakistan Software Houses Association (P@SHA), stated that Pakistan, as the Tech Destination, made a significant impression at GITEX Global 2024 in Dubai with the grand opening of the Pakistan Pavilion and the highly anticipated Pakistan Night, which was organised in collaboration with the Pakistan Software Export Board (PSEB) and organised by P@SHA.

Syed said these events boosted Pakistan’s reputation as the official Tech Destination of the Year by showcasing the country’s flourishing IT sector. He told them that the inauguration ceremony was attended by the CEOs of some of Pakistan’s top IT companies, Faisal Niaz Tirmizi, the ambassador of Pakistan to the United Arab Emirates, Raheel Iqbal, the vice chairman of P@SHA, Muhammad Umair Nizam, the senior vice chairman of P@SHA, and influential members of the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC).

Being recognised as a Tech Destination of the Year on a global level, in the opinion of the P@SHA chief, is nothing short of revolutionary and creates the foundation for the country’s IT and ITeS exports to increase rapidly if it is capitalised through consistent trade, taxation, SME, IT industry, and STZA-related policies.

Pakistan Night, according to Muhammad Umair Nizam, brought together government representatives, tech innovators, and leaders in the business for a unique networking opportunity. In order to strengthen the close relations between Pakistan and the United Arab Emirates in a number of tech-related fields and verticals, attendees had fruitful conversations regarding possible business alliances, investments, joint ventures, and bilateral cooperation.

P@SHA Treasurer Haris Naseer emphasised the association’s vital role in promoting economic expansion and human capital development, and Dr. Sohail Munir went into detail about the significant contributions Pakistan’s IT sector has made to the UAE’s digital transformation.

Raheel Iqbal claims that 80 Pakistani businesses participated in the event, which is strategic in nature due to the fact that they came from IT, ITeS, related or supporting industries, and other high-tech sub-sectors. He continued by saying that this approach effectively creates the IT environment needed for the socioeconomic advancement of any country.

Ali Zaib Khan, Trade & Investment Counsellor at the Pakistan Embassy UAE, was another notable speaker who underlined the significance of enhancing tech ties between Pakistan and the UAE.

The Secretary General of P@SHA, Nadeem Malik, emphasised that GITEX Global 2024 was a unique opportunity for Pakistan because it produced concrete agreements, memorandums of understanding, and business-to-business connections.

In his closing remarks, Faisal Niaz Tirmizi emphasised the value of bilateral cooperation in emerging technologies between the UAE and Pakistan, two brotherly countries, through a range of complementary trade relations and synergistic business-to-business (B2B) and government-to-government (G2G) partnerships.
