Pakistan Gains $1.151 Billion From It Service Exports In 5 Months

It is a 5.89 percent increase over the US $1,087.929 million earned through the supply of services during the same months of the previous fiscal year 2022-23.

Islamabad: During the first five months of the current fiscal year 2023-24, Pakistan earned $1,151.956 million by offering various information technology (IT) services to other countries.

This represents a 5.89 percent increase over the US $1,087.929 million collected through service provision during the same months of the previous fiscal year 2022-23, according to the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS).

During the months under consideration, computer services exports increased by 8.17%, rising from US $864.429 million last year to US $935.016 million from July to November 2023. 

Among computer services, software consultancy services exports increased by 46.67 percent this year, from US $1.710 million to US $2.508 million, while hardware consultancy services exports increased by 4.15 percent, from US $318.041 million to US $331.231 million.

However, the export of repair and maintenance services fell by 40.74 percent, from US $1.485 million to US $0.880 million, while exports and imports of computer software services increased by 4.05 percent, from $239.473 million to $249.179 million. Meanwhile, information service exports fell 22.91 percent during the period under review, from US $1.790 million to US $1.380 million.

 Exports of information services climbed by 12.37%, from US $0.485 million to US $0.545 million, while exports of news agency services declined by 36.02%, from US $1.305 million to US $0.835 million. 

The export of telecommunication services fell by 2.77 percent, from US $221.710 million to US $215.560 million, according to the report.

 Among telecommunication services, the export of call centre services increased by 11.11 percent during the months, from US $87.327 million to US $97.026 million, while the export of other telecommunication services decreased by 11.798 percent, from US $134.383 million to US $118.534 million this year, according to PBS data.
