The UNESCO platform in Paris has recognised Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province for designating two tourism sites as Biosphere Reserves, namely Gallies Biosphere Reserve, which includes the area from Bagnoter to Barian in Galiyat in Abbottabad district. Both of these reserves, especially the forests, are designated as international protected areas.
Garam Chashma in Chitral is one of the selected locations, while Bagnoter to Barian in the?Abbottabad district is another. The Man and Biosphere (MAB) project of UNESCO oversees the maintenance and administration of these Biosphere Reserves.
This programme aims on meeting the demands of the local residents while simultaneously preserving the environment. ?The Wildlife Department of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has met the strict UNESCO requirements for establishing this protected area.
Moreover, this acknowledgement not only draws attention to Galiyat’s attractive areas?but also emphasises the importance of their preservation and the well-being of their residents.
