Anwar Haq Kakar, the acting prime minister (PM), gave the relevant authorities instructions on Monday to create a detailed plan for the creation of “Car City in Islamabad” for the sale and purchase of automobiles.

While presiding over a meeting to discuss matters pertaining to the Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT), the prime minister gave the directives. The administration of ICT, the state of law and order, and the problems pertaining to drugs were all covered in detail at the conference.

A thorough briefing was given to the meeting regarding unlawful encroachments, the Capital Development Authority’s development initiatives, the Islamabad Police’s performance, and other matters.

PM Kakar gave the order to deal with the issues caused by the showrooms that were set up in different sections of the city to exchange cars that produce issues with parking and traffic in the relevant locations.

In order to exhibit, auction, and sell cars in Islamabad, he directed that a thorough plan of a car city be created at an appropriate site.

According to the prime minister, a practical plan should be developed to ease the congestion in the city.

Information was presented to the gathering about the impending arrival of 160 new buses in the city, which would contribute to the improvement of the city’s public transportation system.

The prime minister ordered the creation of a national digital vehicle registration system that would be used in Islamabad and all other cities in the nation.

The directive, “Fitness certificates should be issued for old vehicles based on the internationally accepted environmental pollution standards,” calls for improving the efficiency and openness of the nation’s driver licencing process.

In the meanwhile, he gave the police command to crack down hard on drug dealers who distribute cocaine and other substances in and around the schools.

Along with prioritising the required procedures for the installation of Dolphin Force in Islamabad, he urged the relevant agencies to take extra precautions for the safety of schools.

Regarding Margalla National Park, the prime minister declared that unlawful encroachment on areas owned by the Capital Development Authority, including Margalla National Park, should be met with an all-out offensive.

PM Kakar was informed that there has been a notable decrease in crime rates this year with regards to the state of law and order in the capital city. In order to guarantee the citizens’ safety, the prime minister gave the order to develop an efficient plan.

It was reported to the meeting that secure city cameras and contemporary technology had enabled Islamabad to completely deploy the e-challan system.
