The Punjab Planning and Development (P&D) department announced hiring an international consultancy firm to readjust the Rawalpindi Ring Road (RRR).
According to the details, the National Highway Authority (NHA) objected to the project’s design and traffic control. The relevant authorities are thinking of changing the road’s layout by building a connection road from Fateh Jhang to Sangjani. The news source stated that international bidding required third-party valuation. It was revealed that the project’s development would get underway following RRR’s realignment.
The officials added that the international consultancy firm would offer proposals for revisions to the route and design. The RRR project, which has been halted, will begin to get work.
As per the news source, Frontier Works Organisation (FWO) was given the contract to build the 38.3-kilometer RRR that connects Rawat and Thalian. According to the contract, the FWO has two years to finish the work on the RRR project.
Additionally, it was disclosed that if the link road is allowed, the Punjab government will build a piece of the road within the boundaries of Rawalpindi. In contrast, the Capital Development Authority will build a portion of the road inside Islamabad’s boundaries (CDA).
It should be noted that the Rawalpindi Ring Road (RRR) was officially opened in April and was planned to be finished in 1.5 years to address the primary issue of traffic congestion.
Sources reported that Mouza Banth hosted the ring road project’s inauguration. Speaking at the occasion, Commissioner Noorul Amin Mengal promised to monitor the project’s development regularly to ensure its timely and high-quality completion.
Deputy Commissioner Tahir Farooq and Chief Engineer Dr. Habibul Haq Randhawa of the Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) were also present during the occasion.
The commissioner ordered the authorities to address the problems with the project’s land acquisition as soon as possible. The deputy commissioner needs to mobilize the entire revenue staff, he continued.
