Commissioner of Rawalpindi Division, Liaquat Ali Chatta, has announced the resumption of construction work on the Dadocha Dam, underscoring a commitment to completing the project within the specified timeline.
Notably, he expressed the keen interest of the Punjab government in water supply initiatives and applauded the local population, especially residents of Barwala, including areas such as Azari Sehal, Malikpur, Azizal, and Khanpur, for their patriotism and sacrifices.
In a significant development, Commissioner Liaquat Ali Chatta assured the affected residents that their contributions would be duly recognized, and as per the Supreme Court’s decision and directives of the Punjab caretaker government, they would receive compensation based on prevailing market rates for their land.
He emphasized the collective efforts required from both the district administration and the public to ensure the success of this vital project, which is aimed at securing a sustainable and clean water source for future generations.
The Dadocha Dam, strategically located 25 kilometers from Rawalpindi, is slated to reach a height of 123 feet. Upon completion, it is expected to contribute significantly to Rawalpindi city’s daily water supply, providing an impressive 35 million gallons of water primarily for domestic consumers.
The construction of the Dadocha Dam holds great significance in facilitating clean water access for the residents of Rawalpindi, including those in Cantt and neighboring areas. This initiative aligns closely with the directives of the Supreme Court and the pressing need for a sustainable water supply.
Commissioner Liaquat Ali Chatta also stressed the urgency of expeditiously building the dam, recognizing it as a critical requirement for the community. He called for careful and thorough planning by the Development and Finance Department, in collaboration with the Frontier Works Organization (FWO), to ensure the successful and timely completion of this essential project. This initiative reflects the commitment of the government to addressing water scarcity issues and providing a reliable source of clean water for the region, benefiting the community and future generations.
