A strategic agreement was signed between the two organizations to more thoroughly look into and research the lithium reserves in Pakistan, according to a statement from the China-Pakistan Joint Research Centre on Earth Sciences, which took place at an international conference on the lithium battery industry held in Sichuan, China.

The strategic agreement stipulated that both parties would cooperate to research and make use of Pakistan’s lithium reserves. According to CEN, efforts will also be made to increase cooperative research on the country’s lithium deposits through academic exchanges and staff development.

According to Volza’s data on lithium imports into Pakistan, the majority of Pakistan’s lithium products, including lithium primary cells and batteries, are imported from countries including China, the United States, and Germany.

Last year, Pakistan launched the Automotive Industry Development and Export Plan (AIDEP 2021-26) with the goal of promoting the local EV industry, integrating affiliated manufacturing here, and reducing the nation’s reliance on fossil fuels.

Tianqi Lithium, which has its headquarters in the southwestern province of Sichuan in China, is a world leader in the development and manufacture of lithium goods, particularly in the development of lithium-ion battery technology for use in the energy storage and electric car industries.
