After a long five-year break, the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) has restarted work on another mega centre in Karachi.

In a bid to facilitate the residents of the port city, the NADRA administration has now begun building a fourth mega center on University Road in Karachi.

According to the sources, in the city, NADRA planned to build a total of seven mega centers. Mega centers will also be built in Malir, Kemari, following District East.

Moreover, the officials have written a letter to the NADRA headquarters asking for fresh hires for the mega center.

As a result of flooding in various parts of the nation earlier this month, the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) has extended the CNICsÂ’ expiration date.

In another development, the authority has launched the NADRA Biker Service for carrying out all the processes of Computerised National Identity Card (CNIC) applied in renewal and modification categories at the doorstep of the applicant under the guidance of the Interior Minister for Interior Rana Sanaullah.

The inauguration ceremony was held at National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) Headquarters, Islamabad. During this, the NADRA chairman Muhammad Tariq Malik informed the Interior Minister about operations in Sindh, Balochistan, and South Punjab which have been severely affected by devastating floods and heavy rains, as per the media statement.

The minister was also told that the monsoon rains and floods have damaged most of the buildings of NADRA registration centers which are inundated under water; however, the equipment has been saved and evacuated; a total of 150 houses of NADRA employees in those areas have also been damaged.

The chairman of NADRA further told the minister that the heavy rains and flooding situation in different areas had led to the loss of CNICs of affected people which would be required to have an access to governmentsÂ’ relief disbursement and other relief activities.
