In a full board meeting on Friday led by Senior Member BoR Nabeel Javed, the Board of Revenue (BoR) Punjab authorised measures to modernise and digitise the e-stamp paper system in order to prevent fraud.
High-ranking officials, including Chief Settlement Commissioner Khalid Saleem and Member Colonies Malik Abdul Waheed, attended the meeting and approved 14 items on the agenda, one of which was revamping colony branches throughout all districts of Punjab.
To evaluate the extension of lease durations for government land allotted to agricultural graduates, a committee has been established. Within two weeks, this committee will submit its recommendations regarding the leasing policy.
In order to improve the effectiveness of tax collection, the Board of Revenue’s tax department modifications were also adopted during the meeting. In order to guarantee increased openness in the management of government lands, the collection of unpaid fees from unauthorised tenants, and the auditing of both commercial and agricultural assets, improvements to the BoR’s internal audit system were also approved.
Board members were instructed by Nabeel Javed to uphold transparency in the leasing and auction of government land and to post all relevant information online. The board also talked about a plan to switch to a digital, paperless registration process for all events.
