Caretaker Punjab Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi officially opened the Cavalry Ground Underpass and Ghora Chowk flyover for traffic.  

Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, the chief minister emphasized the significant benefits that the completion of the Cavalry underpass would bring, particularly to the residents of Gulberg and Defence in Lahore. Ghora Chowk flyover will render the route signal-free from Centre Point to Defence Mor.  


The completion of the Cavalry underpass enables the daily passage of 200,000 vehicles, eliminating the need for stops at three signals that were previously encountered. 


Punjab Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi has unveiled a significant infrastructure initiative, the Walton Road upgrade and re-modelling project, aimed at addressing transportation challenges in the region.  


The ambitious project, with a budget exceeding PKR 9 billion, spans six locations and includes key developments like the ADA drain re-modelling, Cavalry Underpass, and the Centerpoint to Walton Road CBD Punjab Quaid District projects. 


CM Naqvi emphasized the importance of the project during a media briefing, highlighting the construction of a flyover at Cheil Chowk to improve traffic flow. The Walton Road project, set for completion by December 31, is expected to significantly reduce travel time from Main Boulevard Gulberg to Walton to just three minutes.  


Additionally, Naqvi set deadlines for specific milestones within the project, expressing satisfaction with sewage water drainage on Walton Road and urging officials to ensure a smooth traffic flow for timely project completion. 


Key components of the project, including the Cavalry underpass and the Ghora Chowk flyover, are slated for completion by early December and December 7, respectively. Simultaneously, work on other crucial projects like Lahore Ring Road’s southern loop-3, Bund Road (controlled access), and the Gujranwala Expressway is progressing around the clock, with deadlines set for January.
