The SEZs will provide an opportunity for Chinese investments to take advantage of incentives that Pakistan offers to foreign investment with concessions.
The Federal Minister for Planning has said that Pakistan has great advantage of low–cost labor whereas there are many industries in China which are facing the problem of high cost of production due to increased levels of cost. He said, “We are working on nine Special Economic Zones (SEZs) and Rashakai Special Economic Zone would be inaugurated later this month.
Ahsan Iqbal, the Minister for talking to the media during his visit to China said, “We are really look forward to developing our agriculture sector based on new technologies. We are seeking cooperation to upgrade the quality of our seeds so those companies which have research and seed development can help us.”
He highlighted the significance of food processing industry in Pakistan. While talking about the mining sector, the minister said that Pakistan has huge marble deposits which can be tapped with new technology. He added that mines are rich with a lot of other precious metals.
In response to a question about the security of CPEC project, Ahsan Iqbal said that the government of Pakistan was taking extra precautions for the security of Chinese. Four layers of security have been provided for the project.
As CPEC is the highly strategic project, the enemies do not want to see its success. He said that Pakistan and China both should be determined that nothing unpleasant can stop the two countries to move ahead and moving together is the best strategy for the success. He informed that a special force of 10,000 personnel has been prepared for the security of the CPEC.
