Jane Marriott has become the first female envoy of the next High Commissioner of United Kingdom in Pakistan.
According to a statement, issued by the British High Commission on Thursday, Jane Marriott would be the next High Commissioner of United Kingdom in Pakistan. She would be the first female high commissioner of UK in Pakistan.
Jane Marriott has a bright record during her active service. As per statement of British High Commission, Jane Marriott has been the High Commissioner to Kenya during the period from September 2019 to June 2023.
She delivered a new UK-Kenya Strategic partnership, strengthening ties across mutual prosperity, sustainable development, security and stability, people-to-people links and tackling climate change.
During her stay in Kenya, she oversaw the launch of new clean, green, sustainable energy projects and delivering UK-Kenyan cooperation to create the first-ever Kenyan Marine Commando Unit, underlying the UKÂ’s commitment in the fight against terrorism in Kenya and region. She supported to restore more than 1,000 hectares deforested land.
The government of United Kingdom was successful in establishing a ‘Digital Success Programme’ in partnership with Kenyan stakeholders.
Jane Marriott has also served as Director of the UKÂ’s Joint International Counter-Terrorism Unit, Director of Joint FCDO for Middle East and North Africa, Ambassador to SanaÂ’a, Yemen between 2013 to 2015, Deputy and Acting Ambassador to Tehran and Advisor to the US Special Representative to Afghanistan and Pakistan, Richard Holbrooke. She has also performed two diplomatic assignments to Iraq and one in Afghanistan.
