Cdwp Cleared 10 Development Projects Worth Rs 114.5 Billion

The CDWP successfully cleared a total of 10 projects worth Rs. 114.5 billion across various sectors such as energy, governance, health, higher education, transport, and communication. 

The Central Development Working Party (CDWP), chaired by Federal Minister for Planning, Development & Special Initiatives Ahsan Iqbal, convened a meeting to review and approve several significant development projects.  


Out of the 10 projects, three have been recommended to the Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (ECNEC) with an approximate cost of Rs. 96 billion. Additionally, the CDWP approved seven projects valued at Rs. 18.5 billion during the session. 


The meeting witnessed the participation of high-ranking officials including the Secretary of the Planning Ministry, the Chief Economist, Members of the Planning Commission, and representatives from various ministries and divisions. This diverse presence ensured comprehensive deliberations and informed decision-making. 


One noteworthy project recommended to ECNEC is the “Evacuation of Power from 800 MW Mohmand Dam Hydro Power Plant to the National Grid.” With an estimated cost of Rs. 13,822 million, this project aims to construct transmission lines that will enable the distribution of power generated by the under-construction Mohmand Dam Hydro Power Plant in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.


Another significant project, the “Sindh Solar Energy Project (SSEP) (Revised),” with a total cost of Rs. 22,005.637 million, has also been recommended to ECNEC. This project aims to promote solar power in Sindh Province and contribute to energy security and climate change commitments. 


During the CDWP meeting, the “Cyber Security For Digital Pakistan (Phase – 1) Revised” project was approved. This project, valued at Rs. 1,798.840 million, aims to enhance cybersecurity measures in the country as Pakistan embraces the digital era. 


Other projects approved by the CDWP include the “Technical Support Unit-PIDSA (Revised)” project, the “Up-gradation of Nuclear Institute of Medicine & Radiotherapy (NIMRA), Jamshoro” project, and the “Establishment of University of Baltistan Skardu (Revised)” project. Each of these projects focuses on important areas such as public sector development, healthcare, and education.
